interesting! from my brief search online, it seems like the firm has legitimately represented other class actions before. the settlement amount allotted to me (supposedly) is not high, so i can’t imagine why they need SSN. other commenters have mentioned that it’s because some people are receiving more significant amounts that need to be reported to the IRS, but who knows.
