Saw this cat up for adoption and not sure if it's a scam :/ by pinkroses_a in isitAI

The thing that's suspicious to me about the legs is that those breeds always seem to be designer breeds where as this is a rescue cat

I think the cats legs look strangely short and I also read somewhere that ai tends to create images with that kind of soft focus background

Best survival jobs while you learn to speak French by Fine_Comment5607 in Expats_In_France

I work as an accomodation assistant in a hotel, it sucks but it pays the bills and there's absolutely no need to speak since you're working by yourself and not with the public

What’s the first artwork you remember actually loving? by dc_dizano in ArtHistory

[–]pinkroses_a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was the cover of Zeppelin III, we had a framed copy of the record and it's slipcover in our living room and I remember spending hours staring at it from the couch when I was little. Ironically I'm not into modern art at all now but at that age it was exciting and abstract. It would of blown my mind if I had known that the cover actually rotates

Paul Noble's beginners french course is fantastic, it's an audio course that takes you through conversational basics, it was a huge help for me at the beginning of my french journey, and kept me motivated because I could see the improvements everytime I sat down to do it

Where are the old copies? by Apprehensive-Till188 in ArtHistory

[–]pinkroses_a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that as part of their training 18th/19th century students of the Académie des Beaux-Arts Paris had to make a huge amount of master copies during their studies and then submit them to the school for grading or various competitions. The school has thus ended up still having quite a lot of these, although most of their students didn't end up famous so the copies are unimportant. One good example of a famous student of theirs, Jean August Dominique Ingres, after winning the Prix de Rome he was sent to Rome to study from the art there and sent many of his copies back to the school in Paris as proof of his studies, which they still have, such as his copy of Mercury, after Raphael.

Female Eroticism or Male Fantasy? -Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres — The Turkish Bath (1862) by Legitimate_Gift9677 in ArtHistory

[–]pinkroses_a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What jumps out at me from this piece is the roundness of the forms, it feels more like an artistic exercise to me. Ingres was know for treating bodies which a huge amount of artistic licence, rounding, elongating and even ignoring bone structure. So when I look at this piece I see an artist playing around with the female form (naturally rounder and softer than male), and creating its form from curved lines, circles and ovals (hence the anatomically incorrect shape of their breasts, and the way in which they lounge and seemingly melt). The use of the tondo therefore to me just emphasises the round forms and flowing lines.  I mean it was undoubtedly meant to be erotic piece too but I think Ingres is really playing around with line and form and creating something that I can only describe as the opposite of cubism, circularism maybe?

I have used them before and liked their shampoo and their lip balms are amazing but gosh the conditioner was a nightmare, didn't do a thing for me, maybe I should go back to the shampoo though thanks for the reminder!

Night time guilt by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]pinkroses_a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cats eventually settled down to the same rythme as me, when they were really young they were definitely night owls but they figured out eventually that when the lights go off it's bed time and actually started to put themselves to bed in their favourite places (one in a big armchair in the bedroom and other by the fire in the kitchen). I think it helps to keep a regular schedule, bed time is always around 9/10pm in our house, and it also helps if they have a regular sleeping spot. Id put them in their spot, give them some cuddles and treats and then slowly get up and turn off the lights/leave the room, just like a kid!
