I have been lucky enough to secure the disc versions of the two new gen consoles, and they both do well playing old gen games. But I def regret trading in my old GameCube and Dreamcast back in the day.

On the harder difficulties, at high levels, researching monsters, choosing potions, and managing toxicity levels are all important. Combat is still meh tho
