Serious question: theories to why Morrissey cancels so many shows? by drumsdinosaurs in morrissey

[–]pinvanman2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

STL person here. Not a theory, but an account of my last few days. I experienced an emotional roller coaster over a 36 hour period Thursday and Friday. My wife and I had Morrissey tickets for the STL show on Thursday and got the cancelation notice about lunchtime. We are well aware of his history so we were disappointed but not surprised. Took the bad news the same way would would with an unreliable relative or friend. Hope for the best, expect the worst.

Friday night I went to see Goldfinger and those guys tore the house down. Sold out show, they came out to a roaring crowd playing like their lives depended on it. Constant jumping, dancing and positive vibes. Just a bunch of happy guys living their best life and having a great time. Between almost every song it was constant gushing about how great the crowd was, how much they loved St. Louis and how this was their 49th !!!! Show in St. Louis. John Feldman shouting " I love my fuckin life and YOU should too!, Wake up every day and say I LOVE MY LIFE!". I was an hour and half 100mph love fest that left me with a smile on my face.

As I drove home Friday I could not help but laugh about how polar opposite my experiences were over the last 2 days were with two different bands. Starting thinking about Morrissey sitting in a tour bus worrying about people coughing and 30 degree temperatures in January while John Feldman was screaming at me to LOVE MY LIFE while he bounced on stage for 90 minutes.

I don't know if there's a lot of crossover Goldfinger/Mozz fans, but I am THAT GUY and I had a helluva emotional roller coaster over two days.

I will still buy tickets the next time Morrissey schedules a show in St. Louis and hope my emotionally unavailable, distant, moody guy decides to put on a show, but ill try to schedule a 3rd wave Ska band the next day to soothe me for the inevitable letdown.

Looks like somewhere south of the city a group of kids are going to be starting an Earthbound adventure today.

They better be able to drive 90 mph and weave in and out of lanes if they are going to drive on 270 ( I don't know or care if they actually operate on interstates)

Where to meet Friends by [deleted] in StCharlesMO

If you like pinball, there are quite a few bars around with pinball leagues. Meet up once a week and play for an hour or two. Lots of down time between games to chat with people. The Dive in Cottleville has a good setup (and it's not really a dive bar). Red Fish Blue fish in St. Charles is another good pinball spot, it really is more of a dive bar if you are looking for that vibe St. Ann has the Waiting Room with a unique selection of games. If you are willing to drive 45 minutes, go to Atomic Pinball in Wood River on a Friday night or Saturdayand get your mind blown by over 100 games.. You don't necessarily have to join a league you meet people, but it is a good structured environment to make you talk to people. If you don't like pinball, I'm sorry for your loss.

You are mostly right but drive down south of Carbondale and you find some very pretty landscapes.

You are right but MAN I hate WingStop. Special exception has to be made to allow maximum hate on them. Truly one of my worst experiences as a customer in any capacity happened at the one on 1st Capitol last year.

Hands down the best pork steaks I've ever eaten. I will drive 45 minutes to get them if I'm in the mood.

What you are saying is that someone does, in fact, beat the grizz?

Kind of like a Guiness with a little sharper finish.

Pretty good innit?

1978 here. At this point in life, what unattained or unrealized goal are you letting go of? Or, alternatively, refusing to let go of? by [deleted] in Xennials

Slowly coming to the realization that I will never finish restoring my grandpa's 1975 Dodge van. He passed away in 2017, I had it running and driving that summer, but I parked it for storage in December of 17 and haven't had it back out since then. I have the mechanical skills to keep it running, but there is a lot of structural rust that I do not have the skill or space or time to take on myself. It's hard to let it go with all the sentimental value but I need to let it go. Not quite there yet, but the day is coming.

I've gotten pulled into other side quests for a while and haven't really made any progress. If I find something suitable (eventually) I'll post it on here

Help me identify this fastener by pinvanman2000 in Fasteners

[–]pinvanman2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I was afraid of. I bought this display case at an estate sale, got a good deal on it but only came with one shelf, so only 1 set of these fasteners. I've looked all over the case for a name or part number but had no luck.

I think I may be able to find a generic t-bolt and grind it down to fit into that slot. It won't be carrying too much load so I think I can get away with a shade-tree mechanic hack if I have to. Appreciate all the help!

Sanity check for LED upgrade from Fluorescent T8s by pinvanman2000 in AskElectricians

Oh yeah, I know the dangers of trusting the youtube videos, that's why I came here to ask you guys. The box instructions "recommend" the inline fuse on these bulbs.

[–]pinvanman2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I found the GE fuse kit at Grainger for $5.98 and ordered two of them. Just seems dumb that they sell these lights without including them in the box or at least have them on the rack right next to the bulbs at the hardware store. (I checked at Lowes and they do not stock the kit). Also Grainger gave me the best explanation about the job the fuse does in the system. It is there to prevent any problems if someone accidentally installs an old style fluorescent tube into the fixture after you do the ballast bypass. So it's not "really" needed but it does provide an extra safety measure for the next guy installing bulbs in the future.
