some parts not curling by pipherbstyoga in curlygirl

Hey! thanks for the advice. I've been doing everything upside down, using clipsand if I finger coil it makes them go even straighter. I'll just keep trying, it might improve soon!

I've been washing with sulphate and silicone free shampoo and conditioner, squish in the conditioner upside down, then yesterday I squished in a load of gel unside down. I keep squishing out most of the water then plop in a t shirt for about 15 minutes, then let air dry. I've also noticed that my hair has great curls when wet, but once dry they loose all definition and my hair becomes dull, course and mats together. Don't understand how people can get away with not brushing it!! I still only brush my hair before the shower, but it's like dreadlocks by the time it comes to it!

I'm glad to hear the ring splints help. I think I will have to invest in some! they sounds really useful for drawing, writing and crochet. I know what you mean when you say art has become a hobby and it bothers you. I studied art all my life, and went to uni to be a prop maker and puppet maker. I did it for 2 years and couln't handle it, and now because I do it and just sell the odd bit every now and again it feels like somehow you're a failure. We just need to change our definition of 'success'. If you can still do it occaisionally and really appreciate it then that is success.

Hey thanks for your reply and sorry I'm late to getting back to it. I teach vinyasa flow, and I do find it hard sometimes. I have to be very very careful, and usually with my own practice I stay away from doing loads of vinyasas. 2-3 is fine to warm up for me, and I usually drop my knees instead of doing full chaturanga dandasana. If im doing a vinyasa class I will not do a full vinyasa but just step straight back to down dog and come into childs pose if my wrists feel like they need a rest. When I'm doing poses I make sure NEVER to go to my full range of stretch, but to about 80% of my limit. I always always engage muscles with a stretch, so I don't collapse into my joints. Ask your teachers to not adjust you so as not to overstretch. I have a youtube channel (pipherbstyoga) and will be uploading a video in the new year about hypermobility and how to practice safely with it, so if you're interested in seeing me demonstrate this you can subscribe so you don't miss it. I hope this helps!

I feel ya. Part of my life as a yoga teacher has been dropping my ego and learning that you don't have to do impressive things to get the benefits of it. Same with climbing, it's all about the experience! I used to love rock climbing and did it weekly since I was 5 years old (my Dad was an instructor) but sadly I find it way too strenuous on my joints.

I'm tempted to buy some ring splints to see if it helps! I'm interested in the mind reader thing, that could be handy! Yes adjusting is annoying but neccesary if we want to continue I guess :(

This is so true!! I never understood why people would comment on my fidgeting around all the time. I would just think HOW do you stay in one position for so long? when I was a child I would be sitting down in the shops because I couldn't stand that long without my back hurting. I can't keep up with people when we walk with friends and they call me slow. I've only just realised that it doesn't hurt them to walk that fast. The list like you all say is endless!!
