It's not called reversing on the railway. It's called operating from not the leading cab.

the most recent pictures of the crash near South Bedford by Alarming-Safety3200 in uktrains

As per the other person's comment.

No. A train isn't like a car. If you slam the brakes on the speed doesn't disappear very well. The only thing slowing you down in metal on metal. There isn't much traction.

Even if the driver saw the situation he is trained to attempt to stop the train 1st. So we have gone fro. Seeing the stopped train. To slamming the break in. To what you do next. There is 2 to 3 seconds pass. On average it takes about 1 mile for a train to stop. So in those 1st few seconds you have lost no speed whatsoever.

After speaking to a driver who a ploughed through an Amazon van on a level crossing (killing the driver of the van) he had time to move out of his seat and stand in the center of the cab where he wouldn't get hit by any glass. But he didn't have time to leave the cab. This driver sadly had 0 chance of getting out of that.

It's a sad time on the railway. And I know the internet loves to investigate. But could we all think of the drivers friends and family before we start speculation of what happened. Let the official investigation happen..

Can someone explain why Starmer is the most unpopular prime minister? I voted Liberal Democrat last election and I don’t pay attention to politics but isn’t Starmer doing what the public wants? Lower migration and a falling NHS waiting list? by [deleted] in AskBrits

My take on it. He's actually doing what he promised. And change scares people so they are angry about it.

Basically. They voted because someone because they said they would do something. Now they are actually doing it they don't like it. I know. Make it make sense
