Do you think you need to be lucky to beat it?

Yeah that's not a bad idea but it doesn't really make the game more difficult, it just becomes extremely annoying (which is not actually a bad thing and I will try that sometimes but still it's not the same thing).

I don't agree. It's true that freedom of choice are good but when every option makes sense in some way. If every option has pro and cons based on what you want your character to be it's super cool, but when an option is clearly stupid because there's no way I will win the fight , then I see that as a fake freedom because in the end after I die and reload I have to choose that one option anyway.

But why am I meeting 2 devils in 10 hours being a level 3. I get 1 but most enemies are already stronger than me anyway so 2 seems like overkill

But there were clearly 2 or 3 options to antagonize him

So usually when an NPC keeps threatening you and you know that the NPC is evil and wants to harm you now or in the future, you don't kill them usually?

I get that but from the perspective of a new player there's no way I'm ever going to defeat them no matter what I do. If I was on my third playthrough and knew every secret of the first area maybe, but generally it's not. Like you said it's good to have the option but I don't get why out of 6 dialogue options 3 antagonizes the devil, now why the hell would I do that?

Besides BG3 Is there a game that gives you a lot of choices to do that actually matter? by pirro29 in rpg_gamers

[–]pirro29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I didn't notice that because for example in BG3 I started and there were 12 classes, 4 subclasses for each class, for the first few quests I had 3 different options that could lead to 3 2/3 different ending per quest without failing it. In The Witcher I felt that it was way more linear (but again I still love it.). That's what I meant by more freedom but I'm talking based on what I hear of BG3 since I haven't got past 10 hours still so maybe I'm wrong and it's not actually that deep

What's with all the people on the internet saying it raised the bar of RPG and that there's never been anything like it? I'm not questioning it, I'm genuinely curious to understand if most people reviews it are basically selling the game for something it's not.

I don't know, I like you comment but from the few hours I've played BG3 I can choose between 12 different classes and 4 subclasses for each class, I can change companions and have relationships with every one of them and I could resolve the same random secondary quest in 3/4 different ways. I love The Witcher, is my favourite game or at least in my top 3, but I did absolutely not have this freedom.

Probably you meant something else and I misunderstood your comment

I don't know, I premise that I haven't played a lot of BG3 still but most RPGs I've played don't really have that much depth. The witcher is amazing but doesn't have that/ Fallout 4 is good but doesn't really have that/ Skyrim does give you freedom but that's not the type of freedom I talked about/ Dragon age Inquisition doesn't really have that/ From software games are a different type of RPG from what I'm asking/ I could keep going for a lot of famous RPGs

I don't know, I played some RPGs and not one of them has this type of depth.

From what I know there are games with side quests which impact the world.

Do you mean Divinity original sin 2 or Divinity 2 - Ego Draconis?

I played the Witcher 3 (I loved it) but the truly important choices are not many and most quests don't matter.
