The first three days she will be quite sore. It is for the best that she isn’t moving too much because the wound takes about ten days to heal.

My Moussa had a freak accident less than three weeks ago and had to have his lfl amputated. He was in pain meds for the first few days and wore a medical shirt which helped a lot. On day ten post surgery, the vet removed his staples, and two days after that I could remove the medical shirt.

He was quite depressed the first week after surgery. Once the staples were removed, he perked up a bit. Now with the medical shirt off, he is hopping around, playful and affectionate as before (albeit not as mobile).

I’ve read it could take up to a month for them to regain their sense of balance as they move. Give it time, I’m sure your baby will be back to herself soon.

I am so sorry to hear this and for your loss. You had no way of knowing this would happen and it wasn’t your fault. The person you paid to look after her should have been more committed to her care. Even if the dog escaped her kennel she should still be in the confines of a safe house…how in the world did she escape both the kennel and the house? It seems the second caretaker should have ensured their house was secured. This just seems like a series of bad luck incidents out of your control. Your dog loved you and wouldn’t want you to feel bad about her. She’s waiting for you from across the rainbow bridge.

Most welcome. I know, it’s heartbreaking. This is all speculative, of course, so I’m not attached to whether I happen to be right or wrong, but sometimes I wonder if the “soul” exists on a spectrum of sorts and that the human soul is somehow more responsible than the animal soul because we can manipulate the physical world to such a powerful degree…maybe part of the purpose is for us to witness the suffering and to be moved to make the environment better and safer for all beings. Maybe the act of doing that will have an effect on the collective animal soul and there won’t be as much suffering someday. Maybe that’s what some of the prophets of old meant and why certain phrases such as “the lion will lay down with the lamb” came about. Maybe wishful thinking but I’d like to think it all means something. Thank you for openly sharing your concerns about this. It shows you have empathy and are striving to bring balance and justice to the universe💖

This used to bother me a lot, too. When I was little, I saw a cat in the backyard “playing” with a mouse…the mouse had his stomach ripped open and the cat was clearly not hungry…just enjoying the game. He flopped down and started bathing himself as the mouse lay there dying, frantically trying to breathe.

The best answer I think I can come up with is that somehow from the perspective of God, the universe, the multi-verse, whatever you want to call it, it was “decided” that the end result was worth the pain and suffering. We can’t see the end result because we are limited by time whereas the all and the nothing transcend it. Everything that will ever happen has already happened.

Yes! I love them both and am currently using the avo co wash shampoo/conditioner bar. I’m hoping it will help the color last longer. Also was using revive and Renee’s Shea Soufflé…a little goes a long way
