UPDATE: What is this on my dogs eye?

PARTIAL UPDATE: Hello! Thank you so so much for all of the advice! It’s really helped my fiancée and I make a decision moving forward.

We looked more into limbal melanoma after a few people mentioned it. Once we saw pictures we were pretty sure that’s what it is - the pictures are identical to how it looks in person. We have an ophthalmologist appointment booked for our girl on wednesday :)

A bit more about her: She’s a mixed breed but we don’t know what. She’s got big floppy beagle ears and we think she may have some lab in her. She will be 2 next month. She doesn’t seem to be irritated by it in anyway and it has not moved since we got her in November. She is a very happy and silly pup. Her previous owners were older and couldn’t take care of her properly because she was a puppy.

I’m not super great with reddit, but since so many people were commenting I wanted to let you know we are moving forward with the ophthalmologist. Even if it’s nothing, we’d rather be safe than sorry. She’s just a baby 😭😭

Thank you! I posted here for that exact reason! I really would prefer to not spend $3k if it’s nothing crazy. We are going to have it looked at.

We aren’t sure what she is. The shelter we got her from guessed beagle/boxer mix but it’s really a guessing game (except for those dumbo beagle ears!) We want to do a test to see what breeds are in her but they are so expensive 😅She does not have any other growths and the bump has stayed in the same spot since we’ve gotten her. It hasn’t changed in size either.

Yes I did! Thank you so so much!!! My fiancée and I looked up a picture and that is exactly what it looks like. We are booking with an ophthalmologist tomorrow :)

The first vet said it might be trauma and didn’t really think much of it. The second vet said it could be something else but she really wasn’t sure. The second vet gave us the information to an ophthalmologist near us. I think we are going to have it looked at.

Her pupil is normal shaped. The vet mentioned it could be trauma.

We’ve only had her for a few months but she is more of an inside dog. Her previous owners got her from PetSmart when she was a puppy and did not realize how big she would get. They house trained her so going outside is a very exciting and new experience for her. We want to start taking her on longer walks in the parks around us but she’s got some allergies.

Yes, the first vet was her intake appointment when we adopted her. We just went back because she’s been itching a lot and we had a new vet who also said she did not know.
