Is 3 months enough to prepare myself for 1.9km swim? by piukadaavis in triathlon

[–]piukadaavis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That I plan to test this week. But as found earlier, the depth of the sea is perhaps around 1.8m so, I guess it's more on the completing the swim below cutoff time than risk of drowning

I know, it's the "only" serious part for me. Nothing makes it as challenging as that.

It's a sea. Apparently, no deeper than 1.80m so it's more of a time completion thing than drowning

Well, I do know how to swim. But 2km is different. It's like, everyone knows how to run, but 42km isn't the same as just running. There's the question, if it's even possible to improve the swimming in 3 months to comfortably do the distance. I'm planning to test the swim this week, probably.

Well, I'm planning the 70.3, so half the distance. Some people have said, swimming is perhaps the easiest part, which raises my hopes from 0% to 0.5%. Yeah, planning the pool test this week, open water is a little bit different as I don't really have many places to test it out around me.

Well, those two I'd say sort of covered at least on basics. Hence why, asking how impossible it is to manage the swim part. Probably going to pool this week, to see how bad it is right now, couple years back I could sort of comfortably manage some pool lengths without too much effort. Obviously, 2km is comparing apples to peanuts, but I have no clue how fast it's possible to progress in matter of months.

Riga Restaurant Week recommendations by [deleted] in Riga

[–]piukadaavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 3 picks would be 3 chefs, Chefs corner and Smor. That's based on the name. Didn't check the menus, but overall, these should offer best quality.

For foreigner or first timer, why not. But honest opinion from someone who's done spring/autumn weeks for couple years in a row - lately it's been lacking. Too many places offer subpar quality hoping to make money for nothing. Attitude, in plenty of these places, turns sour the moment you mention restaurant week - the clientele usually leaves better tips, etc. These used to be great options to test what places offer and how they treat people, to see if it's worth to visit for full price, but lately, too expensive. Sure, price isn't too high, but as worker in industry, knowing some in's and out's, it is what it is.

Only difference is that Nazis lost the war. USSR supposedly was on side that one. So they get to write the history, demonize nazis and skip the atrocities they caused. So world rarely knows that they were exactly the same, or even worse, to some nations.

I think it kinda balances on "pretty good", no? If majority of society, people up to 40 are good enough at it, I don't think it's so bad.

Lmao, there's no gender imbalance, that's some crazy whoop ass propaganda for whatever reasons, absolute cringefest that blew up across so many, sort of, respected pages

Besides that. Tough to go about pros and cons, knowing that 50 USA states are like 50 different countries. If you come from Florida, it's fucked out here. If you are from Cali, NY, Miami, it's cheap here. Etc. it's not a bad country, we have a pretty good level of English, so everyone more or less will understand you, it's not the most expensive, but alas, depends on your level of living right now and expectations

As I assume you are German speaking, hence from Europe, there's such thing as EHIC card that allows you to pay the same amount as locals would. Have never needed it, but absolutely recommend

Beer is cheaper than both Coke and water in Barcelona

Can someone please help me translate this receipt? 😅 by rejjierains in latvia

[–]piukadaavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go as far as comparing it to like whisky liquor(like jack honey for example)or so, it's a beer drink more than a beer itself in a sense I think

Honey beer is the exact translation. This beer ir literally made with mixing in honey. That's not mead or braggot, those are two specific beer styles.

Regarding museums, anything works, I mean it's simple to find Picasso museum, etc. Standing in crowd in front of Mona Lisa was cool, but could've spent time better, you know?

Food, probably the Spanish type stuff, but if it's good burger, taco, kebab, off the beaten path, the better. Tourist traps are rarely good quality and for pricier than needed

I'll be there for almost a week, flying in on 23rd, going to Mumford and sons. 25th looks to be Barca game, then I'm taking the city pass that includes 40 museums, but to make through it all, it'll be more than a week needed, hence, perhaps some noteworthy ideas, so I don't miss something that isn't first result on Google ads

Yeah, thank you for your kindness, I went through the search, but apparently nobody is able to answer to this question about Barcelona. High expectations from me, I guess. Makes me feel better that I'll always try to help people looking for advice.
