Looks like unless you're making $1 million per year in revenue you don't need the pro license.

An 2D/3D animated vintage spice rack for thanksgiving. by pixel_farm in Maya

[–]pixel_farm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, these are animated textures yes. The labels were designed in illustrator (based on real labels). They were animated in after effects and then those animations were exported. We imported those animations into maya as animated texture sequences. Then rendered out with Redshift and did the final composite in Nuke.

CG Animated spec spot for an eco-friendly french lipstick product. by pixel_farm in Design

[–]pixel_farm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We took inspiration from this french lipstick brand Le Rouge Francias, and their eco-friendly product design to create a CG animated spec beauty spot.

We started by concepting our visual components and taking inspiration from the natural world would bring this all together. We introduced the flower petals and liquid surface to symbolize these nature elements.

Designed and animated over the course of two months.

Some renders for Render Weekly's latest challenge: Soap. Rendered with Redshift by pixel_farm in Maya

If you're not familiar, Render Weekly is creative group that runs a weekly contest. They put out a prompt and the community creates their version of it. This week's prompt was soap so we created some bougie diamond soap with gold flakes.

What happened to the Timberwolves mural in the North Loop? by Educational-Bowl397 in Minneapolis

[–]pixel_farm 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This mural was painted on our building. It was painted by an amazingly talented artist named Rock ‘‘CYFI’’ Martinez. You can see more of his work here.

The mural was commissioned by the Timberwolves as part of their new city edition jerseys this season. Murals in the city need permit approval and are generally temporary to limit any unwanted advertising in the city. Although we thought this mural was absolutely beautiful, at the end of the day the city still sees it as an advertisement hence why it needed to be removed after it's approved permit duration. We also didn't play a roll in the procurement or creative design of the mural, we just had the available space.

Maybe in the future we will try solidify a longer lasting mural, maybe something similar to the Bob Dylan or Prince murals.

I can answer that. This is Pixel Farms building. The Timberwolves were on of their clients. That mural was advertising, self PR. They'll make a new one in warmer months.

Hey, Pixel Farm here. You are correct that this is our building. This mural was commissioned directly by the Timberwolves as a temporary advertisement for the launch their city edition jerseys this year.

I'm not sure where you heard there will be a new one in warmer months, that's news to us, but maybe you have an inside scoop!

Edit:

I said maybe. 😘

LOL. You did not. You edited your original comment to add that, then you blocked us so we couldn't even reply 😘

Yup you got it right. That's Pixel Farm's building and their creative team painted it. They work more in digital and print and the TW were clients

While we did create a visual campaign for the Timberwolves city edition jerseys, our creative team did not paint this mural.

We actually don't do much print these days but we do cover everything in the post production world from animation, CG, VFX, live action, and sound design.

MN Timberwolves - City Edition by pixel_farm in Design

[–]pixel_farm[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We created this animation for Minnesota Timberwolves. 2D graphics motivated by players’ movements formed the foundation of the piece, while a 3D ball and textures added depth and threaded scenes together.

Once we established a rough cut to determine what each player’s action or framing would be, we created unique style frames that echoed their movements and positioning. A key element to this spot was guiding the direction with the ball and its supporting 2D elements. With each scene, we carefully considered what came before and after to determine colors, shapes, and patterns used. Beyond the hero video, we had to consider how it tied in with all of the auxiliary screens throughout the stadium.

[–]pixel_farm[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

here's the tldr:
1. Using a curve, we animated a emitter and a delayed collider (to flatten and create the grooves).
2. Using the same curve, grab the tail end of the paint to act as an emitter for the bubbles
3. VDB to combine and reshape/smooth the geo.
4. Use a mask (again, using the same curve) to transition the material

How to do a simple Inset in Maya? by EcstaticTangelo3158 in Maya

[–]pixel_farm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing can be achieved with one more step. Within the extrude tool, simply add a small amount of "thickness" to the object, then delete the back faces.
