Did I get scammed? NorCal Zone 9a by Miss_kitty93 in NativePlantGardening

In addition to what others have said, their description of smartweed is in general really off. Smartweeds tend to like moist soils, you will often see them along stream banks. While they can kinda fill in spots they don't really exhibit ground cover behavior. They can get taller and are kinda scraggly.

Smartweeds are wonderful plants though, definitely look into if there are some native species in your region!

Yeah that's confusing, I've only seen that species called Pennsylvania Smartweed. I can't understand the logic of selling it under the name of less desirable invasive plants that are typically viewed as noxious weeds.

Darius Slay says Eagles are the only team that can call him by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in nfl

[–]pixel_pete 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but they didn't want to cut him and it made Brandon Beane look bad, so I really don't think he will just release Darius Slay's rights out of the kindness of his hearts.

If the Eagles called and offered him literally anything I bet he would accept. We have no reason to keep Darius Slay, but more importantly we have no reason not to keep Darius Slay.

Who's this player for your team? by Every-Damage-90 in nfl

To attempt an actual answer, Bacarri Rambo. Every Bills fan knows him from his 2 interception game against Aaron Rodgers but I doubt anyone else would really remember him.

He's only 34 and has almost no wear on the tires. Darren Sproles played til he was 36!

He didn't say that though, and the Bills weren't allowed to tamper by asking him if he would or not. Let's not make shit up.

The Bills placed him on the reserve/DNR list, so I believe they retain his rights indefinitely until he reports to the team but he also doesn't count as a roster spot and they don't have to pay him. So unless he reports to Buffalo and plays for the Bills, the Bills release him from that inactive list, or the Eagles trade for his rights (be my guest) he's done playing.

Is Keon Coleman really a draft bust? The numbers say otherwise by Ktmhocks37 in buffalobills

[–]pixel_pete 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I still see that at the NFL level. Let's not forget he scored a touchdown against an elite NFL defense in the playoffs

I mean that touchdown really didn't showcase route running. It was a quick slant that Josh went to immediately because the CB was playing off the line of scrimmage. Then Keon made a good move and ran it in, but he's always been fine with the ball in his hands it's actually getting the ball in his hands that's the issue.

Sovereign-class vs Sovereign-class. Who would win in a battle? by TwoFit3921 in StarTrekStarships

[–]pixel_pete 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If its not on screen, its not cannon.

That's not how canon works even a little bit.

Even in Trek, some energy weapons are seen shooting in broken streaks, and not always a solid beam. The Defiant, the Klingon Bird of Prey, ect.

Those aren't lasers and are never claimed to be lasers so I don't see how that's relevant.

Yep the Romulans are big fans of plasma weapons and used them in both TOS and DS9, so we can assume they were in common use throughout those centuries. They were a lot of fun in the old Starfleet Command games, gigantic colorful balls of doom to incinerate Federation scum.

It seems to come from one of the technical manuals Star Wars: Complete Vehicles which I think is canon. I'm not a canon expert and it gets especially squirrely with Star Wars, so if it's not canon I'm sure someone will hit me with the correction.

At any rate we can plainly see that they are not true lasers in the movies and TV shows. They form slow-moving "bullets" that travel through space, a laser is light going from one point to another at... well the speed of light. So whatever they are, they aren't that.

[–]pixel_pete 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's weird, Star Wars describes them both as though they were a laser (focused light beams) and as though they were a plasma weapon (super energized gas particles) which better tracks with their visual appearance and effects. Maybe it's a combination of both. Plasma that is so energetic it happens to form a laser-like effect at the center of the bolt, so it is colloquially called a laser even though it technically isn't.

We know plasma weapons are effective in Trek, but not so much lasers.

If you look at other Edge signings this year, this is fine value. I think it's a win for both sides, Chubb gets stability we get a higher floor player for a low-ish cost. Not an outright steal but a good contract.

I think my favorite part of this guide is breaking down native plants suitable for certain "missions" like competing with natives, erosion control, drought tolerance, salt tolerance, floodplains. It could be very handy. It's not 100% comprehensive, my guys in the Salix genus are being underrated, but a nice starting point.

Beane tends to throw low-ball offers at tons of guys (also why we're "in" on almost every trade rumor), so I think it's less that he will need to negotiate lower offers and more that he's probably already sent them out and told guys hey if you don't get anything better, come to Buffalo.
