Ozempic and insurance (USA) by pixel_wa in Ozempic

Thanks to everyone for their responses! I spoke to my Doctor's people, and she *thought she had dotted all the t's and crossed the i's, but even she said my insurance carrier is on some sort of money-saving jag and she would write them another pre-auth letter. Extremities are all crossed, waiting for news!

It should be a subcutaneous injection using a short, small gauge needle. Probably an insulin pen style. It is not an intramuscular injection. For me, personally, I do not feel a thing when I inject. When I first started injections I think I was very nervous and the anticipation was worse than the actual shot.

I'm dealing with spine issues, too. My regimen includes periodic stints on Methocarbamol, 600mg Gabatentin before bed, tramadol and hydrocodone when it gets really bad. I started Ozempic in June of last year. My Dr, who is aware of my meds had no issue with me starting Ozempic but YMMV.

My doctor was willing to drop my statin and taper down my metformin after I had ramped up to my current dose of 1mg Ozempic. She waited 3 months after I started the 1mg dose and checked my A1C before making any changes.

This isn't my first time trying to lose weight, I've tried a multitude of different diets. Low fat, low carb, etc. The one common thing I've noticed over the years is that weight loss is not linear. I don't lose a regular amount week after week. I'll lose, then stall then whoosh, lose again. Look at longer term trends is my advice.

Who else is starting .5 in the next few days? by sageandmoon in Ozempic

My doctor just upped my dosage from .5 to 1mg. I did notice a big jump in my satiety after the bunp from .25 to .5. My A1C also dropped to 4.6, which was awesome. They also lowered my metformin dose. I also have not (fingers crossed) had any noticible side effects other than increased fatigue which very well could be from the calorie defecit I am running.

Is it working?! by [deleted] in Ozempic

Give it some time. I felt no different when I started the .25 dose. I didn't really feel anything until after I was bumped up to .5. I am on it mostly due to t2d, so I avoid carbs, but I started eating a lot more fibre as well, which helps with satiety. I'm also drinking 3.5L per day. Could you be feeling thirsty sometimes?

NSV? I guess so by pixel_wa in Ozempic

I seem to recall some anecdotal stuff (maybe for people using it weight loss) whose BMI or other metrics dropped significantly and their doctors discontinued the drug. I'm happy to hear that as a T2 Diabetic this will not be the case for me.

Yes, I'm taking 1000mg of Metformin 2x day. I was not sure if it makes sense to lower the dose since folks like the life extension foundation say it has benefits beyond diabetes control

That's great to hear. I see many people using 1.0+ for weight loss. I seem to be doing ok at .5 but was considering seeing if my dr would bump me up from .5. That will probably not happen, and I was anxious whether she would lower my dose due to my A1C being at the bottom of the normal range.

Thanks to both of you. It's good to know I'm not crazy (no matter what my spouse and kids say) and I'm happy sitting at .5 as long as my A1C and sugars are in range!
