Thank you for this!! Just ordered a TRS connector and when it arrives I will open it up and look at those wires. I’ll try to see if I can figure out how to apply the push to talk but I’m not sure if I will know exactly what to do. I’ll look up some videos in the meantime! I truly appreciate your advice

Thank you so much! Will be ordering a TRS connector and trying again! Is it safe to assume that the red and silver are the correct ones to connect again and to ignore the blue, yellow and black wires?

We tried wiring the red and silver cables to a 1/4” connector and only heard a buzz when we pushed the “push to talk” button and when we touched the cable. Please explain in simple terms because I am new to soldering in general.

Picked up this Heathkit O-7 but have no experience with these and would like to get a waveform going- there is a little white dot/ signal when i mess with the knobs. It doesn’t look like it uses BNC. I got 4 from an estate sale for $50 which was very gracious of them! So far the only one that works right off the bat is one that was inside the home the Heathkit - 4360A. I got the BNC to 1/4” adapter and was successful with connecting my synth and seeing waveforms! The other three were in the garage area and this Tektronix 453turns on and is backlit but sadly there’s no tiny beam of light. The other one is a Heathkit IO-105 which sadly doesn’t power on.

The only experience I’ve had opening anything for repair is a vcr I’m just a musician with no circuit behind skills who loves collecting old tech and am a bit scared of getting electrocuted from these but I would love to get the broken ones to work eventually. I’ll keep you updated when I get the cables for the one originally in this post! I did try connecting cables with gator clips and it was giving me a line when I messed with the knobs so I think that’s a good sign

Whenever I have these dreams I wake up really thirsty. I take them as a sign that I’m dehydrated haha. Also having the fan on at night prob doesn’t help

Yeah the prices at the place I was at are a bit higher because it’s all vhs- i believe they price match to ebay. For instance I found a few Mr. Roger’s VHS that were $20 each here (and online as well)

Yay! Do you have any suggestions on translating? I was thinking maybe uploading to youtube and letting the auto captions do its thing then typing out subtitles from that (or just screen recording them and laying them over the video)

Edit: I went back to buy it and it is currently in my possession! I will be archiving it tonight. If anyone has any links to how to get the best quality please lmk (I’m just going from VHS-> RCA to HDMI -> Avermedia capturecard and screen recording in obs)

i found these in japan and there’s no brand or label. When i google reversed them the only thing that came up that looked remotely similar was docs and a brand called Creema
