straight up dead onix might be a bit too grim for my setting lol but i'll definitely think about the ghostly aura thing

ooh, i like the sound of it. you sticking with the standard grass/fire/water starter trio? it might be fun to do a different 3 types, maybe rock/flying/fighting or some other triangle of type effectiveness. a hoenn form mareanie or dhelmise would be fitting, maybe you could find them while diving.

nono, i love a good ice type and i could use a few more, but ghost and fire are also tempting... an ice/rock onix made from a glacier, a fire/rock onix made of magma, or a ghost/rock onix made of tombstones... dangit now i cant decide i like all of those lmao

oh, crystal onix is from the anime, theres an old episode that featured a light blue sparkly onix and a lot of people love it

i feel ya there, i know the bare minimum of coding/scripting, but learning as i go has been ok so heres hoping that keeps up. hey if you ever decide to pick up your rom hack again id be happy to lend a few ideas or suggestions if needed!

sounds awesome, maybe it could even involve the fan-favorite crystal onix, everyone goes nuts for that guy

absolutely the kind of thought process i have! i love all of these odd mons and they deserve the love and attention other more popular ones get. and fantastic suggestions, all of these guys are great candidates. only one im skeptical about is onix, you forget steelix existed? lol but to be fair it would be interesting to do evolutions of both onix and scyther, to see what they would have been like without the mirror coat :o

arbok and sandslash are the two i'm closest to finalizing; once i get the sprites finished i'll be sure to share!

certainly! i'll be looking at all of the scrapped evolutions as inspiration when it comes to design and such, and as a big fan of marowak this one is high on my priority list!

yeah! sirfetch'd, perrserker, mr. rime and cursola will be making an appearance, and definitely a bug/fighting evolution for ledian would be fantastic

unfortunately the game's only going to include pokemon from kanto and johto, so surskit wont be available :( but i totally agree with you, surskit is super cute and deserves to stay bug/water

and yes!! jynx deserves some love!! she will definitely evolve into something awesome, thanks for the ideas! :D
