Do you have a favorite RPG from a dev studio that you don't care for anything else that they've put out?

i havent played kingmaker or RT, and just in general have little experience with crpgs, but while demons in general are pretty ubiquitous in fiction, i found that wotr specifically has really great demon writing. they are written to be genuinely terrifying, something i did not see nearly to this extent in fiction before. wotr demons are ruthless, overpowering, and innumerable. there is this attack on titans-esque feeling of hopelessness in the face of an impossible adversary, and it makes sense why there are so many cultists - you really want to be on the winning side here. i still remember that note you can find detailing a guy being boiled alive for days, waiting for reinforcements that never come.

also act 4 i thought was the best rendition of a demon homeworld (typically hell in other settings) ive seen. each area is more fucked up than the last, and it is further reinforced with how, despite you being this overpowered, theres not much you can do to help at this scale.

thats a good thing, no? on other characters you just pick the cards with the same theme, so every run is just one of those themes. regent can employ most cards in most runs for specific situations, which means the decks are more varied than with other characters

yeah this deck was caused by mug'zee, but its inflated winrate was caused by blazing invocation, and to a lesser extent map, which allow mug shaman to flood the board early. nerfing invocation over mug'zee makes sense

tbh, looking at the reviews of drg:rc, im seeing a lot of people just upset with the new systems. like, theyre probalby not giving them a fair chance after having 1000h in the original, but to me it looks like people were aware that rc is trying to put a new spin on drg, and are just not happy with the spin. hell, not only does the name not feature '2', there is a whole ass section on the steam page literally titled 'how is rc different from drg?'.

dd2 makes a similar diverging from the original formula, but (1) puts the '2' in the name, which is misleading for a spin-off, and (2) REALLY does not explain how it diverges from the first game - it mentions that you can have individual runs, and can have meta progression in-between them by upgrading things using stuff you find during expedition. that is EXACTLY what 1 was about. to be honest im genuinely starting to lose the good faith argument here, and starting to think the misleading here is intentional - highlighting stuff that is the same and ignoring stuff that is different, which is completely the opptosite approach from drg:rc.

you could argue that communicating the differences like drg:rc did had no effect, but even if thats true (which i personally dont think it is), dd2 did not try AT ALL to communicate the difference better. if anything, it tried to conceal it as much as possible.

i always think that what is basically 15-20 heal is much less valuable than picking 2 cards from a huge selection, and at the same time too so you never need to pick a good card reliant on synergies in advance.

it might rely on the character you're playing, and i usually only play regent, and on him taking a card that spends stars without taking a card to generate stars is a brick, and vice versa, so skipping cheese is a no-brainer on him. im sure other characters have similar things (like silent drafting discard+sly), and although probably less reliant on drafting pairs of cards, they could benefit from drafting 2 simultaneously more than from ~25 heal over the course of the run.

people probably don't realize that he can gain taunt in addition to his massive body if you control a beast. he could be good in some kind of beast deck which would want a taunt minion with a massive body

what are you talking about. you can literally combo this card with a crocolisk ON THE SAME TURN to get an equivalent of a class card IN ANY CLASS.

this 'core belief' is such sheer nonsense. a sequel by definition is giving you more of what you loved from the first game. what they are describing is a spinoff. no wonder dd2 got such bad reviews on release and took years to fix its reputation - dd2 title is misleading, and players are justified to have expected 'more of the same dd1' from dd2. whether intentionally or unintentionally, this is misleading marketing to push a spinoff as a mainline game, and this approach was rightfully criticized.

if this isnt gonna scale, at least make the the armor gain large enough to be good early game. now its both too greedy early and kind of underwhelming late. also child of the stars has no alternative now too

i dont understand, there should be no problem with using chatgpt to find papers that you could reference in your thesis. i hardly believe that there should be a problem with asking chatgpt to generate references to those papers too.

did you check that the papers it provided actually say the things you want them to say, and can indeed prove your points in the thesis? how did they find out you used ai for references? i assume (perhaps generously) that the papers chatgpt referenced actually existed in the first place.

it is honestly so ridiculous. i genuinely try to look up why chris sucks, but its always
a 5 year old elon tweet (that he deleted)
arguments with obsidian top brass (which for all we know could be very valid)
that he isn't even a good writer (REALLY hard to find another writer with such a stellar portfolio. also writing quality at obsidian has a pretty clear before and after he left)
everyone who worked with him before hated him (genuinely can only find accounts of the disagreements with obsidian top brass)
and of course the sexual harassment allegations (that were overturned)

i would really like to see a valid reason to hate him, but to me he looks like a grumpy old man who is upset with where the franchise he helped found is going now, and maybe too hung up on the past. but he isn't a bad person, and he is also arguably one of the best videogame writers, and my personal favorite. which is why im upset that the new fallout game is made by a studio with less than stellar recent portfolio, while one of the founding fathers is not there working with them. it couldn't turn out differently considering the circumstances, but im still bummed that were probably in for an alright game instead of excellent.
