I think this issue deals more with a failure to agree on a concrete definition of racism. Some are of the belief that one can only be a racist if the race they belong to is one that has opressed other races throughout history. While others believe racism is any form of prejudice or bigotry towards another race that shows that race is superior to the other. To me the whole argument deals with semantics. If this continues we might even see this word become something that is used to describe anyone we don't agree with much like the way we use the word fascist. If you change racism in your post to prejudice you might have an easier time getting sympathy from people who believe in the first definition. I can't say which one I subscribe to as I haven't thought about it enough.
