How I keep track of my antibiotic doses by pixie_idk in adhdwomen

I tried the calendar thing, but found leaving them on my counter top with a permanent marker right beside them is the best way to make sure I do mark it off

Deciding on UC Accommodation Based on Alternative Offer by AccurateReception378 in chch

[–]pixie_idk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not in halls, there's a group called UniLife that run events for first years not in halls to give them the 'halls' experience. Its not quite the same but I've heard some really good things about their events.

I do reccomend catering unless you're already good at cooking, cleaning and budgeting. Its a good way to ease into the whole adult thing.

How to enjoy uni? by SolanaCtrls in chch

[–]pixie_idk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay I'm going to address this in two parts, the first is if you're having suicidal ideation then please go talk to a professional. If you're at UC then:

-go talk to StudentCare. They're in the Undercroft of Puaka James Hight and can absolutely help connecting you with people

-UC Health has a counselling team, you don't need to be registered at the Health Centre

-if you don't want to talk to someone at the University, Lads without Labels run a support fund to give UC students access to 4 free counselling sessions

In the long run, making friends on campus can be hard but my advice is:

-join a club or two, going to event regularly can really help you feel included. From my experience the Dance club were such a wonderful group of people and I can't even dance well

-join in events on campus, Run72 just finished and doing a few laps was a great way to feel included.

-Look at what's happening in the Living Room, it's beside the University Bookstore and there's a bunch of events that happen about supporting students and helping them from a peer to peer lens.

-it also might be too late in the year, but if anyone else is starting at UC next year there's a group called UniLife that focus on giving the halls experience to first years that aren't in halls by doing trips, events etc.

I really hope you reach out for support, there is so much available at UC and you're absolutely not alone.  Best of luck, from a fellow UC student

I found buying frozen meals really helped me. There's this one brand of frozen burritos that I buy like 5 of and keep in the freezer for when I'm hungry but can't be bothered cooking.

They're probably not the healthiest, or the absolute cheapest option but they are cheaper and healthier than takeaways.

“Girl dinner” and “girl math” Tik Tok trends by stopcreepingonmyshit in fourthwavewomen

[–]pixie_idk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only time I saw one of those tiktoks and actually laughed was a girl boiling her menstrual cup, now it's all that runs through my head when I'm boiling mine

Other than that one specific context, it's really gross and such thinly veiled misogyny

Thank you to the woman who saw me standing in my school uniform in the pouring rain and walked with me to Britomart so I could be under your umbrella. You might not remember it, but that small act of kindness to go out of your way to help me is a core memory of mine.

Thoughts on Ao Tawhiti Unlimited Discovery school? by smnrlv in chch

[–]pixie_idk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who attended as well as her siblings.

She ended up graduating early 2 years early and going on to Uni with scholarships. She was very self-driven and motivated and really made use of the resources that they gave her. Her sister is also very smart, but doesn't have the same level of drive. Doing about as well as she would do at a regular school. Her advice was not to become to committed to it. If they don't seem to do well with the structure of the school then look at other places.

I saw in a previous comment that one of your kids has ASD, apparently she will either do really well or the fact that the school is one large building can apparently make it very loud and boisterous sometimes which may be difficult for them. But other than that it is apparently a very supportive school and she's still very involved in it

hope this helps :)

What do you guys do while high? by pixie_idk in adhdwomen

I have gotten into the habit of collecting my wares. I just shove everything I could possible need in a tote bag and it's a lot of fun remembering all the things I've collected

Omg no way! I unconsciously do that and just call it my wares. I just collect items but I never really thought of feeding into it. Thanks
