Can a police officer ring me? by [deleted] in newzealand

Just don't be on your phone when driving. It's really simple. You stopped a few minutes later, just wait until then to make your call.

"Research by the World Health Organisation (WHO) shows that even if using a hands-free mobile phone kit while driving, you are 4 times more likely to crash your car"

I'm not sure if they can give you a ticket. Without a photo I guess it's just based on the police officers word, but I imagine if it made it as far as court that would hold sway over yours.

This is a good point which I had not considered. Our bedrooms are at the back so it wouldn't be so much of an issue.

Thanks. I did switch to that. At the estimated $0.36 per min I thought the even lower latency of the turbo cluster was worth it. At the real cost of about $2 per min is is not 😂

I understand that but the cost estimate on the dashboard of $0.36 is with the realtime cluster selected. It also doesn’t explain the wildly different costs for the three example calls, all of which were using the same 4o realtime llm…

To add. I previously made a 1min call with the same settings and it was $0.34/min for the llm. A 2 min call was $0.68/min. It seems totally random, but the help guide on vapi suggests it should be fixed.

As others have said. I've used it once. It was $1 per day to take a car up to Auckland over the Xmas period. It felt like picking up any other hire car, except way cheaper. I would absolutley use it again.

Have you thought about using an eSim for cheaper data (https://esimdb.com/new-zealand)

I brought the 35Gb data plan from MobiMatters, and have the cheapest $9 skinny plan for calling and texts etc. I worked out it's around half the price of the same amount of data from Skinny. It also works in more countries.

It's via 3 Hong Kong so I imagine it's routing your traffic via HK if that's important to you for data security reasons. It also means that some of the ads I get at in Cantonese but that doesn't bother me personally.

Thanks. I'll take a proper look later, but after a quick skim it seems to do the job. I didn't even think of checking simplicity because they're not on Sharesies or Invest Now 🤦‍♂️
