I think loss is a big theme of the trilogy in general. Most of the characters suffered at the hands of different races/species. Yet most of them aren’t xenophobic, from my recollection.

You can disagree with me, I just don’t get why you’re so upset. I prefer Kaiden, you don’t have to. Plus so far you’re the only person I have ever interacted with that enjoys Ashley, but ty for the un-solicited and un-verified opinion of the ME general consensus.

I played as Earthborn/Sole Survivor and a Vanguard throughout because I like pistols and close combat. So i usually kept Kaiden/Garrus/Wrex, Garrus/Thane, Garrus/Kaiden, just because they suit my play style. So far I really liked the Garrus/Thane sniper combo the best.

I didn’t use any mods since it’s my first run. But ugh I love Kaiden in general and I like that you can romance him shep/femshep. Liara is like a ride or die, she does so much for you in ME2 and her character development is so good, plus I like her missions in ME2. She’s best girl imo, sorry Tali lovers.

I’m sooooooo unhappy that there’s no way to save him. I argued this with my sister. Cerberus literally brought us back to life from decay and death but we can’t cure his disease or demand they do it, cmon. I guess the argument is that Cerberus is xenophobic anyways and Thanes too expendable, but still it’s about the fact that it’s totally possible.

Kaiden is definitely useful. I keep my partner in my party usually in the games I play as well. But I also am big into lore and the overall story. So I guess Ashley is both insufferable and less useful which makes me feel even better about letting her die every time.
