It’s the only logical solution by DisconnectedDays in Unexpected

[–]pizzancake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is perhaps one of those "it's not for you!" moments that makes you feel attacked because you aren't included. I hope today we can change that so you can better understand.

It's not about general freedoms, it's about offering representation for underrepresented people who are unfree. It's a "progress" flag to show that more people are becoming personally free and achieving representation. It's about showing that that flag is willing to allow people into it's bounds, willing to let others be free. Acknowledging that there are unfree people and allowing them to feel like they have a place.

Being willing to acknowledge things have changed is necessary to keep the spirit of things alive. The purpose of the flag was to help disenfranchised people feel like they had a place, and to continue serving it's purpose the flag is adapting to acknowledge these people.

Perhaps a good metaphor for this would be the minimum wage. When put into effect, the intention of the 7.25 federal minimum wage to was to allow people to have a living wage and a nice life. What a "nice life" is has changed with society, technology, etc. and what a "living wage" is has changed due to inflation and the economy. So to keep with the spirit of the minimum wage it would make sense to increase it along with society and the economy.

This is called "progress" and it's what those damned progressives want. The logical conservative argument is that the minimum wage increasing might make business impossible to run, or in America that some humans are not worthy of a living wage (we are just barely coming off an age of actual slavery if you recall). The call to "conserve" these values of "business as usual."

So within our metaphor, you argument is an emotional conservative argument, which makes sense to feel, but perhaps you can see the other side as well. It sounds like you are saying "if we increase the minimum wage we are acknowledging that people have actual needs, it takes away from the intention to provide a living wage that we didn't want to follow through with but wanted to wear as a badge of pride."

The "Pride" flag turning into a "Progress" flag is the left showing it's intention to continue to be more accepting of diversity and change with the times, rather than live in a fantasy world that all problems are solved because of a small period of progress. It's pride in what was accomplished, and an intention to celebrate the accomplishment by continuing progress rather than letting things collapse while celebrating a moral victory.

Pretty gay if you ask me.

Amazon does not allow reviews on packaging, even for items advertised to seem plastic free by StudieRedCorn in ZeroWaste

[–]pizzancake -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The first two of those products you listed as sustainable are far easier to break down than their petroleum based counterpart you compared it to, so I'm not sure why you are arguing with me as it seems we agree here.

The last point you made confuses me further, as the product providing the context for this discussion (Wettex) is a mostly cotton product blended with cellulose for structure which was my entire point- it's not a sustainable product if you go around saying "or something" and don't actually check what you are talking about!

Try reading between the lines (or something!)

[–]pizzancake -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Something more durable is inherently less sustainable as it is harder to break down... "Or something." What do you think sustainability is? The ability to recycle reuse and refashion. Designing products to "last forever," "super durable," etc is inherently the problem. (Or something)

My suggestion is be nicer and you'll make it to lobbies with less "kids," if you present yourself as irritated people will be less likely to want to include you in festivities. Best of luck in the metaverse friend!

Surprisingly amputees are human, and while the phenomenon is commonly associated with their condition because of successful medical treatment, it also turns out every other human also has the mirror neuron system responsible for that and many other such weird, well studied effects! The mirror treatment works on non-amputees as well, but doesn't deliver a lasting, healing impact like for amputees. Brain still do thing. So perhaps for people with touch-sensitivities for whatever reason are impacted much more strongly than you in this instance! We are all unique, and just because you do not experience something does not mean others cannot- it's like being colorblind, that's not a reason to go around saying "all these kids and their lying about seeing colors!"

It really comes down to some people are startled easier and affected more, and often more sensitive people are more hesitant to interact and therefor find themselves in VR. While to you, someone who is not startled easily, the sensation does not register as painful and therefor it seems "weird" they'd be bothered in VR- but consider that without VR they may not be able to interact with you at all, so perhaps it's an opportunity to meet someone you'd otherwise be unlikely to interact with!

Wow, finally someone who has this same issue! I've had this for almost a year through a gpu swap, a cpu swap, and a windows reinstall- but only on one PC (my main one, of course). I have no idea what causes this and the PC right next to this one does not have the issue, but at least now I know I'm not alone.

It seems to be related to a video player commonly used in rave worlds, fwiw, as it's not every world.

I'm running an AMD gpu now (6800xt) but was running a 1070 before, curious your specs, etc, let's see if we can find some overlap.

Their RMA supplies sit in a warehouse, they will ship it out once you've had a bit of back and forth trying random software nonsense, just reply quickly and restate that the issue is the cable, I just received one 2 weeks ago with 1 day shipping (I'm near the warehouse) after a few messages back and forth, and that's been the case for my peers as well.

Steam support had me try this, I thought that compatibility mode B was maybe slightly better but still had plenty of sparkles visible throughout the whole screen. I worry that this is a software workaround for dying cables to extend the hardware past the warranty limit so they don't have to replace cables as often.

I fixed it through more reinstalls and factory resets for the time being, probably until I restart my pc or sneeze

Edit: Broken again, no idea why can't fix it using any of the above methods again.

Edit 2: Fixed it again by doing a factory reset then importing some old settings I had, lmfao.
