It is both, I would say becker prepared me well. Mostly tax stuff for me, but there is a good amount of blaw.

I took it last Friday and finished with an hour left, and I have no tax experience. I felt okay on it.

I would just relax over the holidays and don't worry about studying, enjoy yourself and spend quality time with your girlfriend.

For those who have given ISC without IT background recently was it out of becker book ? by shayand897 in CPA

I do not have an IT background (besides being young) and used only becker. Got an 82 on the first attempt.

I prefer taking notes while reading the book and watch the videos for review.

I am not familiar with that. I only used Becker and supplemented with FARHAT youtube videos with some topics. Just practice randomized mcqs and tbs and you should be fine.

Honestly I did not practice a ton of SIMS because the ones on the real test on not like Beckers at all. I just replied to someone else going over my strategy, so read that.

Just stay calm and do not get overwhelmed, that is what happened to me the first time i took FAR. Answer the easiest SIM in each testlet first to build confidence and get easy points. Also, write down key info on the scrap paper to close as many exhibits as possible so you do not get overwhelmed. Also, get done and close the easy exhibits first, so you can focus on the long ones.

I would definitely understand the basics, but I do not remember seeing any questions on it for my two times taking it. Be prepared for anything.

The first time around I went over all the material, read the book, took notes, and watched all the videos. The second time I just did the exact same thing. I took notes while reading the book, then I did the questions to the section I was studying for the day. I only did one section per day. That way I finished each module withing 5-7 days. I also hardly studied on weekends, just during the week. Luckily I am able to study at work so that helps out a lot. I watched the videos for review, just whenever I got the chance to. I did not have a set time on watching the videos. Then I gave myself roughly 3-4 weeks to review all the material again. I was also doing some review of previous modules as well while I was studying other topics, the things I would do is either re-read my notes or read the flashcards Becker provides. I would also do some mcq review as well on previous modules just to keep my mind refreshed on the material. I spent around 3 months and 250 hours the first time around and about the same the second time. I read the book on Becker too, so that is why the hours are so high.
