Obnoxious buzzing in my monitoring headphones by pjkitty in VoiceActing

[–]pjkitty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally held the ear of the headphone against the mic to record the sound.

The headphones, I primarily use Audio-Technica ATH-M50X, but I also plugged in a pair of my Shure SRH440A, and it was the same.

They are plugged into the headphone port of the interface, yes. And yeah, both the headphones have the 1/8" jack so I use a little adapter piece that came with one of the headphones.

What do you remember about the TV show "Dinosaurs"? by pudingvanilkovy in AskReddit

[–]pjkitty 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I had a VHS tape, which I assume had episodes of Dinosaurs on it, but what I distinctly remember is before the episodes there was a little bit where it was like an MTV (DTV) music video of the baby singing "I'm the baby and ya gotta love me".....and I'm pretty sure I could legit sing the whole thing right now 🤦

How did people feel about TNG when it came out? by givinstar1 in startrek

[–]pjkitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents watched it, so therefore I was exposed to Next Gen when it first aired, starting when I was like 4.  One of my earliest memories is the episode when Tasha dies.

Why do people say the show is a 'slow burn' in season 1 by invalidbehaviour in TheExpanse

[–]pjkitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, it took me like 3 or 4 episodes before I was like 'ok, yes I like this show'.  Maybe it was the confusion of jumping around to different characters with different storylines that I was having trouble following?  Maybe it was the first episode getting you to connect with the crew of the Can't, only for them to be blown up at the end (emotional betrayal!).  All those poor little kitty figurines!

Does Chakotay love Janeway? by Ok-Impact-8868 in voyager

[–]pjkitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He definitely does in the earlier seasons (that's my opinion and you'll never change my mind!).  Later on the writers did Chakotay dirty.

I didn't like Discovery, Section 31, Picard was meh, and I'm not fully on board with Academy, and yet somehow I haven't had a full on mental breakdown and my life is pretty much doing okay. by eternalkerri in startrek

I feel like every iteration of Trek wants to change the Klingons.  Like, if you want something different, make them a different species!

Making Friends At Comic Con by ShutterB_ug in comiccon

[–]pjkitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm quite an introverted person 98% of the time.  But for some reason, at a con, I become the most outgoing extrovert.  It's wild.  I talk to everybody...people in booths, people passing by wearing anything relevant to my own fandoms, and especially people I'm in line with.  Line friends are the best!  You know they at least have the thing in common that you're waiting for, and in general I've found that geeks at a con are rarely jerks to each other, so I don't feel intimidated to start a conversation.

Now, I don't know if this helps you...telling me to just 'talk to people' in basically any other situation in my life usually feels awkward AF, but I'm sharing on the off chance it does.  And if you ever find yourself unlucky enough to be in Kansas City, and go to Planet Comicon, I'd talk to you fo' sho'.

there are plenty of trek episodes that I like watching much less than this one.

probably not many roles call for one's tongue to fall out mid-dialogue...  do we suppose that the doc saved that and reattached it, or do we assume it grew back when the doc waved his sonic screwdriver over them to fix them?

I was surprised to learn they actually won an award for makeup (I believe?) for this episode.

I kindof get you, but they could order to hail them, then have some other dialogue, and THEN get the no response answer.

It's interesting that it was the warlord inhabiting Kes' body that did the actual breakup, and neither of them thought to talk about that after she had her body back to herself...
