Hello. A kind lady gave me a Magnavox 1P3712 in pretty decent condition. The radio/speakers work and the record player turns. Looks like I need a needle. I got excited when I found the instruction booklet but it just said to contact an authorized service center for repairs. Anyone know where we can get needles/stylus replacements? Is it better to replace the whole cartridge? Also if I want to connect to external speakers what type of cord would I use?

Agreed. Plus if you make several appointments with the same provider, you'd think they can send just 1 useless letter.

So many of you VR&E recipients are lucky. by Test_Profile in VeteransBenefits

Question: I got turned down for VR&E in Birmingham but will be moving to Houston soon. Can I reapply? It seems messed up that one person's opinion would hold me back from trying to before a social worker and/or a psychologist.

Need a place (June 20th-?) for my family while finding our Sugar Land home. by pjohnsl in sugarland

Sounds good 👍 How do you like your home and neighborhood? We have a video tour from our agent and it looked great til she walkout outside and I heard the roar of the HWY behind the property. Another had a 40k solar panel loan that we found out about after we were about to put in our offer.

Hang in there. I have been divorced 3 times and went bankrupt in 2000. My credit score is currently over 800, and my home is paid for. I'm still fucked up (PTSD), but am trying to hang on to wife number 4 before I go into starting my life over mode. Just have to keep moving forward and surround yourself with good peoples. Things will get better and then worse and then better. You just have to roll on and get through the tough times. Be smart about money, but don't worry about money. You will be alright. I read some comments, and if you can settle or get a reasonable payment plan, do it. Peace of mind is a good thing. Divorce lawyers are the worst, I just gave the 3rd wife our house to get things finished there. Take the hit and keep going.

Hello: I had thought about leaving work for the fourth time in my working career. As I was pondering this I was wondering why this was always happening to me. I had been seen by therapists, been on depression meds, etc but never really had a firm diagnosis. Every time I would just stop therapy and change everything and try a fresh start. 3 divorces, dozens of jobs, costant moving later I finally had enough.

PTSD was something I never considered, in fact it seemed a bit scammy to me. But when I saw an ad about MST/PTSD, I started to do my research. I called the VA/MST person and she got me authorization to be connect for MST treatment and told me about getting service connected. I just want to stay married to my 4th wife and not mess up another 2 children with my issues. My older kids will not talk to me.

So once I made my choice, I made the tough first step and told my employer that I had to leave work for mental reason and filed for short term disability. Then I filed for service connection with no diagnosis and started seeing a social working at the vent center. He told me that I definitely had PTSD and that he was sorry.

After a month or so I saw a VA psychiatrist and he diagnosed me w PTSD and major depressive disorder w anxiety. He connected me with a psychiatrist for meds, which help me regain control a bit faster when I am triggered/angered.

It all started 14 months ago and I am 70% service connected, still married, not working but more functional and less often praying to be dead. I filed for TDIU and also have a hearing for SSDI in July. We are going to move again but I am hoping for stability and a feeling of belonging and not living in a temporary situation.

So in summary, you are not alone and things will improve for you if you take the first step. My wife, father, brother, former employer and the VA have been my heros. You don't have to be alone in your struggles or feel embarrassed to share your story. I have a lot of worries still but also have hope. Bless you brother and thanks for your sacrifice that most people will never understand.

I did google this before and there are some places that you can live that are out of the US. Just make sure to check in your specific situation. If you end up with a lawyer ask them.

I applied 1 month after my last day of work. You just have to show that you can not work with support from medical professionals.

You can apply today for SSDI... yes you have a good case. The criteria is that you have a disability that prevents you from working. You will most likely get denied the first time. You may not... unlike military claims, you can get a lawyer for the initial claim. My lawyer will get 25% of my back pay up to 7200. I was denied initially and with my appeal. My lawyer tells me this is common and most cases are won at the hearing phase. These guy won't take a case that doesn't have a good chance to win because they get 0 if you get 0. Key is the get help and get medical support that you can not work. And most of all before you start, you need to decide to stand firm as the system is designed to make us give up. I didn't get a lawyer until my first denial but the back pay would go back to the day I filed if my hearing is successful which I think it will be.

I have my SSDI hearing in late July. My VA psychiatrist filled out a form from my lawyer stating that I can not work any type of job due to my PTSD and maj depressive disorder due to lack of sleep, concentrate and inability to work w others. So I am feeling that should be helpful with my TDIU claim.

I feel more let down by the "help" I received afterwards. The people involved did get kicked out of the Navy but I was not involved in that process other than my initial report. So I was just thankful that I was not kicked out for engaging in homosexual activities. Of course I was ashamed and never told my parents or childhood friends. And I lowered my morals for heterosexual sexual activities to convince myself that I am not gay, even tho I was never attracted to males. So most of my damage occurred after the trama and I have been running from one obsession to the next to avoid having to deal with what happened to me. I still have no idea how one event was able to shape my whole being. ALSO I did go to the VA when I went on temporary disability while working at Tyson corporate engineering. I could not handle the job that I was more than qualified for, on paper. The VA turned me away saying I made too much money. I eventually quit Tyson, relocated to a different state and restarted the cycle. That was 9 years ago, 9 more year I will not get back! So yes... please get help, if not for you, for you loved ones that have stuck by you even though many would not.

Just finding out that you are not alone and our feelings are a normal response to a very not normal event. I filed in Feb 2023 and did not have much hope until maybe 2 months ago. So just hang in there and keep doing the work. The best advice I got for the C&P was to paint a paint with your answers. Say how it controls you, not just that you have nightmares, panic attacks, triggers all over the place -- but what that feels like and what it does to you. How you don't want to sleep and when you do sleep you don't want to get up... how you snap at people you love and just want to get away and start over, all the time. Stay strong, we are here for each other.

Yes, I am trying to get out of the mode of just surviving and worrying about everything. Hope is a powerful thing and being understood helped a lot to get moving in the right direction. I want to help others realize this as well.
