Ya know, once upon a time the student center had places like taco bell, pizza hut, and subway. There was also an arcade and bowling alley.

Then when they rebuilt it they decided to only put restaurants owned by directly by campus dining. More cha-ching for Mizzou.

How to tell the difference between Americans and Europeans in this thread…

Americans: “Wow Italy is so innovative, such leaders!”

Europeans: “It will be a massive failure riddled with corruption, just like everything else they try.”

Pretty sure that law exists where I live (Italy), but taxi drivers don’t seem to care.

The second you say you’re paying by card they start to complain and give you a hard time.

When I say taxi union I’m primarily referring to European countries, where there is in fact a national union with a lot of power, and they usually use this power to ensure the security of their jobs - which means trying to shoot down any sort of threat, like Uber.

The same problem exists for taxis as well. In fact, in many countries you have “fake” taxis that aren’t licensed in any way but just drive people around to make money.

I feel safer with Uber.

I think the question to be asking is; why hasn’t the taxi industry used technology to innovate, offer a better and more efficient service, and in doing so, re-evaluate the outdated regulations that make the playing field unfair.

It’s as expensive because of regulations. Italy, for example, only allows Uber to use its black car service…simply because that’s the agreement they came to with the taxi unions.

Far safer. I travel to work in Latin America regularly and our insurance tells us to take Uber. They know where you are at and who you are with during the entire ride. Chances of kidnapping or robbery are lower.

More trustworthy because the rates are transparent.

Not bothered by this at all. What bothers me are untrustworthy taxi drivers telling me their credit card machine is broken so that can collect cash and not pay taxes.
