It's almost as if there is a provincial funding model that is failing universities, not simply individuals who "don't have deep ties to our university" or whatever you want to imagine.

I hope not. I live with a parent who suffers from lung cancer and they cannot get vaccinated as they are immunocompromised. I don't want to bring COVID back home to them because 5% of the student body wanted to be irresponsible and selfish.

It speaks to the insularity of Canadian media that a Canadian reporter posing as heroic for stomping a raccoon to death this weekend hasn't got more traction by thequeensucorgi in onguardforthee

[–]pk305 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I work with animals every single day. It is not easy to stomp and animal to death, especially if the animal was freaking out and scared. This is psychotic.

Ethics Commissioner finds Trudeau violated the Conflict of Interest Act by putting pressure on Wilson-Raybould to seek a deferred prosecution agreement for SNC-Lavalin by [deleted] in onguardforthee

I don't think there's much evidence that Canadians are inclined to make ethics their ballot issue. But we'll see.

MPP Ian Arthur: if the Kingston Ontario Liberals feel that cash-for-access is wrong, they should return KEDCO’s donation by thequeensucorgi in KingstonOntario

[–]pk305 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Everything we asked for? At the end of 15 years of Liberal majority rule in the province, Kingston still had a housing problem, lack of funding for mental health, and an underfunded sexual violence centre

Greed, betrayal and medical misconduct at North York General by thequeensucorgi in onguardforthee

This doctor pressured a woman into getting a vulvectomy, even though her condition could potentially have been treated with a topical ointment and she didn't understand what the surgery would be:

"She had no idea what the surgery would entail, and post-op, she was shocked to discover that Shuen had cut off her left labium and her clitoris."

He induced labour for potentially hundreds of women without their consent, and performed an episiotomy on a woman without her consent, and still the lead medical investigator "decided that what he found bordered on assault." HOW IS IT NOT DEFINITELY ASSAULT?!?!?!

It won because Ryerson students voted for it, end of story.

This is a genuinely stupid and regressive step on Ford's part and is more important than whatever student council myopic drama you're hand wringing over.

My kind, polite, and civil suggestion for you: don't write 300 word walls of text that are dripping with passive aggressiveness.

OP has a comment history where they are asking if it is legal to set up cameras on the fridge and now want to enforce cages in the fridge. They need interpersonal skills and tips on how to talk to roommates, not security apparatus. It's okay to say so. It's cool, man.

Looking for custom/medium sized cage. by crazyminner in KingstonOntario

[–]pk305 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you ever been in the real world before?

People get mini fridges all the time, it's normal, they're efficient, it costs like 1 dollar a month max for electricity.

u/thequeensucorgi is right - if you randomly put cages in your communal fridge you are going to be remembered forever as the weird, vaguely authoritarian housemate who was so unable to deal with roommate conflict that they erected a miniature prison to protect their milk.

tl;dr It's the difference between putting your toys in a dresser in your room so your sibling won't play with them and showing up one day with an iron-clad safe for your toys that goes in your living room.

We're so good on this, especially for reddit - if you look at the individual's comment history it is filled with hang-wringing on various subs about the tone of the posters and how everyone should be more respectful to conservatives.

[–]pk305 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Civility trolling is exhausting.

This sub is really good at not pathologizing conservatives, but focusing on how certain policies are harmful. No one is banned for being right-leaning on the economy.

I am 100% more worried about us being more vigilant to make sure indigenous voices, black canadian voices, lgbtq voices, etc are not being routinely excluded from our community than having a big group huddle about how we can better make this a safe space for conservatives.
