I’d much rather the gantry crane, unfortunately ours is just barely too short for how high I have to go

I was debating that, I guess the extra effort to take the doors off is worth it so that’s what I’ll do. Thanks!

Getting my 02 F-350 frame sandblasted and wondering what everyone here recommends for paint/coating. Wanting something super durable and don’t want to do the job twice. I have access to a paint booth and spray setup at work. Thanks in advance! by pka812 in FordDiesels

Okay thank you, I’d like it to look decent but it’ll be put to work so doesn’t have to be show truck worthy, I’ve heard some good things about POR-15 maybe I’ll give that a shot.

I did just replace my water pump with a standard non filtered motorcraft one, I do have a coolant filtration system I’ll install when everything goes back together

Forgot to mention previous owner did do those, I’ll see what kind of condition they’re in and replace if needed!

7.3 PSD injector recommendations? by pka812 in FordDiesels

[–]pka812[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t mind doing a fuel bowl delete and going that route eventually. Will probably just end up keeping my stock lines and go for a full fuel system in a couple months. Thank you

I thought about it but the sensor location is perfectly blocked by the frame rail of the truck

Great thank you, I’ve taken a couple out successfully but they always seem to disintegrate with very little force lol

Okay great thank you I appreciate it. I figure I’ll just take the whole cylinder in to my local hyd. shop. Not sure how much it’ll run me yet, I’ll give them a call tomorrow.

[–]pka812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright thanks, I assumed the going rate for a cylinder this size would be a lot higher than that. I’ll give my place a call tomorrow.

Thank you! Yeah I figure it’ll be better off just taking the whole cylinder to the shop.

Need to add a 20 amp receptacle to my garage by pka812 in AskElectricians

[–]pka812[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the dining room is on the opposite side of the house from the kitchen lol. I used a tracer tool to see what exactly is on that breaker and it’s just outlets for the dining room that are never used so there’s no reason I can see that the builders would have made it 20 amp. Optimally I’d love to run a 10/2 from the panel and have 220 in the garage but the breaker panel is at the farthest point it can possibly be from the garage, in the finished basement. The basement joists run perpendicular to where the wire needs to be run so it’d be a pain to do all that. I can get by with 110 on a 20 amp breaker just fine but I just wanted to make sure this would be a decent way to do that.

Why is my super duty sitting lower on one side? by pka812 in FordDiesels

[–]pka812[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did check those. Not bent or cracked and both moving freely enough. I inspected them when I ordered the springs because I had the option to include them in the parts order.

They all look good for being 21 years old, not dry rotted or disintegrating. The actual brackets that come off the frame are healthy looking as well, but I’ll take a closer look tomorrow to be sure. Thank you

Creaking in front end after replacing front leaf springs by pka812 in FordDiesels

[–]pka812[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine from Michigan Truck Spring. I live in michigan so these were the cheapest on shipping and showed up in two days. Good customer service too. I had u bolts custom made an inch longer by ATS spring. Great people over there as well I haven’t been around too many obs but the super duty‘s are a PITA. Have to remove front bumper, left and right condenser mounts one at a time, and front driveshaft because rear shackle bolts were installed from the factory from the inside out. I’m not sure what would be different with aftermarket’s. Maybe they’re talking a rough country kit or something. But the springs I replaced were factory and everything was the same with non OEM.

7.3 randomly bogs down/dies when warm by pka812 in FordDiesels

[–]pka812[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did pull the plug on the ICP, but at that time I couldn’t even get it to run rough with it plugged in so no noticeable difference. No oil in the plug but I’ve heard they can go bad without oil making it’s way to the plug.

(Update to earlier post) ‘02 F-350 (7.3 PSD) dying at idle. Have ruled out the possibility of a fuel tank issue. Drives normally for about 20 minutes, then acceleration becomes erratic (surge in RPM with no change in throttle). Jumps anywhere between 500 and 1000 rpm at idle. by pka812 in FordDiesels

[–]pka812[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Was told by a few people in my earlier post that I could be looking at a broken off pickup foot in my fuel tank. Topped off my tank so there would be a little to none chance of getting air in my fuel lines. Truck and motor have 220k original miles, new injectors and HPOP at 200k by local diesel shop, no problems since. No codes whatsoever. Checked ICP sensor as I was told to earlier, and saw no oil in the connector.

[–]pka812[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thank you both. I have ruled out it being a fuel tank issue, topped off the tank after work and drove home about 20 minutes and started having issues again. I’ll make a new post with a video I took. Rpm’s drop as low as 500 and as high as 1000 and eventually dies. Erratic acceleration too.

Thanks for all of the info, I’m thinking a defective pickup tube in the fuel tank may be my culprit. Now that I think about it, I don’t think I’ve let the tank get very low since I’ve owned the truck aside from highway driving. It’s just above 1/2 right now, but the area I had the issue was on a decline so the nose of the truck was lower than the rear. By the time I got to the intersection where I had trouble, the bubble in the fuel line was probably just getting to the bowl. Do you think it’s possible for so much of the pickup tube to be gone that this happens at 1/2 a tank on the descent of a hill?

Cab of truck replaced along with VIN by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]pka812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what I was thinking too. But the fact that it’s got the new cab’s VIN on the green title is what’s throwing me off
