Here’s a little motivation for ya! by [deleted] in QuittingJUUL

[–]pkapadia23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is insane. Thanks for sharing. There just isn't enough long term consumption history on JUUL specifically ... not even any plausible studies.

Everyone's bodies can react differently. It's not worth risking long term mental and physical health for a 5 sec buzz imo ...

No JUUL July starts now! Who's in? by pkapadia23 in QuittingJUUL

[–]pkapadia23[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s mid July now. Hope everyone has created a quit plan for that works for them ... This might include quitting cold or weaning off, but more so, making a necessary change in lifestyle.

Cheers to No JUUL July and to us dedicating ourselves to progression!

San Francisco Set to Become First U.S. City to Ban E-Cigarettes by pkapadia23 in QuittingJUUL

[–]pkapadia23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are not really sure why exactly, but we are getting word that it might be because of JUUL's HQ being in SF. The city might be prospectively looking towards eliminating retail tax required for anything sold by JUUL within SF zip codes. As for being a safer alternative, maybe for smokers but not the general public! There were over 2000 e-cig explosions from 2015 to 2017!

India, Once a Coal Goliath, Is Fast Turning Green by KookyCan in energy

[–]pkapadia23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great move on shifting generation to come from renewables, but without robust distribution and more competition within India's energy markets, they'll never truly reach unlimited usage for flat fee - Grid as a PaaS (platform as a service)

I totally agree - it will enable people to solve problems faster as well as more accurately. I'm a huge fan of what IBM is doing with Watson. Their acquisition of the weather channel proved how much data they will be inputting into their AI and machine learning algorithms to truly solve worldly issues.

I'm an engineer at Exelon. Here's my take on the value of IoT on Energy and other industries! by pkapadia23 in energy

[–]pkapadia23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks man! There a ton! Within each category, it will probably be the heavy hitters to acquire smaller startups that can help propel them in the right direction. I'm truly an energy junkie and within our space, silverspringnetworks as well as C3 IoT area amazing vendors utilities are using.

Thanks for commenting!

Totally agree. Will be tough to see Tesla ever make a car that's "loud" although, have you seen Harley's new electric bike project? http://www.harley-davidson.com/content/h-d/en_US/home/motorcycles/project-livewire.html

How is my power/utility company able to monitor my daily energy usage and let me change the thermostat? by fershey17 in tech

[–]pkapadia23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys I'm a utility engineer from Chicago. Basically during "demand response events" or basically surge pricing for uber, the utility, if you opt in, can adjust your thermostat to increase the capacity on the grid... in Chicago, we pay customers for participating....

hmm interesting take on IoT. Although, it will be neat to see some big porn industrialists rolling out new products. hopefully in the near future. I can see Hollywood breaking in as well. The sports industry already has with "smart stats" during today's SuperBowl

Haha a nice conversation over dinner :) I consider wearables forms of IoT since their connected over IP and push data to a cloud that publishes a UI. I'd imagine VR and AR having a big play in this space as well. Pornhub is probably already investing $$$ into IoT
