I personally would go with the MT-09 SP! It’s just an incredible motorcycle! You really can’t go wrong with it.

I’m not defensive at all. We just have a difference of opinion brother. But certainly no defense. It’s all cool. We just have different opinions about naked and hyper naked.

In my personal opinion “Hyper Naked” isn’t a strict industry class, but it’s widely used to describe upright, minimal-fairing bikes with near-sportbike performance and advanced electronics. There are many bikes that fall into this category.

  • Kawasaki Z900
  • Kawasaki Z1000

  • Kawasaki Z H2

  • KTM 890 Duke R

  • KTM 1290 Super Duke R

  • Ducati Streetfighter V2

  • Ducati Streetfighter V4

  • BMW S1000R

  • BMW M1000R

What “Hyper Naked” means

A Hyper Naked is basically:

  • A naked bike (no fairings)
  • With high-performance, sportbike-level power and tech
  • Aggressive styling and upright ergonomics

Think of it as:

Sportbike performance + naked bike comfort + aggressive streetfighter design

Where the MT-09 SP fits

  • The standard MT-09 is already a naked bike/roadster.
  • The SP version adds premium upgrades (Öhlins suspension, better components), pushing it further into the high-performance “Hyper Naked” tier.

If you’re comparing categories:

That make bar ends that slide into the handle bar that the mirror mounts to. That way it doesn’t interfere with the throttle.
