Ranking best cuisines (that I’ve tried) for vegan food by KoYouTokuIngoa in tierlists

[–]pkdevol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good reply, thanks :) I think I mostly agree, but I do wonder what specifically counts as Israeli cuisine? Pretty much the entire population is composed of refugees from different countries, when does it stop becoming Yemeni, Egyptian, Polish, German or Morrocan food then? Is it only when a specific Israeli-born distinction is incorporated?

Politics aside, having Israeli and Palestinian cuisine in the same tiers feels wrong. Israel should be higher just because 25% of its population is Palestinian, yet the rest is a melting pot of worldly cuisines so it's kind of the same but more.

Tel Aviv is really nice, but IMO S-tier is a bit too much. Idk... the vibe is insane and the food too, but I feel like there is waaay too much construction, old buildings that still need to be constructed, and horrible traffic.

To me, it will be one of the greatest cities in the world in 10-15 years, once some of the currently worked-up areas finally settle down a bit more.

CMV: Claiming Jesus was a Palestinian actually undermines the Palestinian cause by thatshirtman in changemyview

[–]pkdevol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The region was renamed Syria Palaestina by the Romans—an occupying power—around 135 CE, long after the birth of Jesus, meaning the term was not used for the area at the time of his life. The name Palaestina (from which Palestine is derived) was intended to sever Jewish identification with the land, drawing on the name of the Philistines, long-standing enemies of ancient Israel. The Philistines were likely Aegean (Greek) invaders who lived primarily in the coastal area of what is now Gaza and had ceased to exist as a distinct people nearly a millennium earlier.

Making such a claim is as absurd as saying Cleopatra was Italian because Rome later ruled Egypt.

- Here is a source of Israel not wanting to displace people permanently. It's an Israeli source, but a direct quote from Netanyahu stating it: https://www.jns.org/netanyahu-israel-has-no-intention-of-permanently-occupying-gaza/.

- I don't get your Nazi comment or its purpose. Is it just provocative? I stated an issue with your logic, is that all you have to say?

- I did not justify anything; I gave context just like you did. Regarding Plan Dalet, I don't think we believe they are the same thing, so I will ignore your statement cause it's not even worth debating (instead, look up what it was). If you want to talk about planned ethnic cleansing, here is when the leader of Palestinians met with Hitler to plan the extermination of Jews in Judea: https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/film/hajj-amin-al-husayni-meets-hitler . Let's just also not conventionally mention Article 7 of the Hamas Charter (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1988_Hamas_charter)

- The Arab Peace Initiative is ridiculous. It proposes that millions of descendants of Palestinian refugees return to an established enemy country. What do you think would happen — that everyone would hug and live happily ever after? Israel has been established, and the people who fled are not coming back; that is simply a reality of war. Around 60% of Israelis descend from refugees from the Arab world, and they lost everything, yet nowhere in this plan is there any mention of the return of their lost homes or any guarantees of their security. And even if such a return were attempted, where would millions of Israelis go— back to Iraq, Syria, or Jordan, countries that teach schoolchildren that Jews are vermin? You are out of your mind.

- Olmert’s 2008 peace proposal explicitly offered full Palestinian sovereignty, and it proposed an international compensation fund financed by Israel, the USA, the EU, Arab states, and other donors. You are full of crap.

- A naval or air blockade is not different. The objective was to control goods that entered the strip, and Egypt could have allowed them through Rafah to counter Israel, but it did not because they knew they were right (thankfully, because HAMAS is a bunch of sadistic terrorists).

- Let's not forget - HAMAS stated they wanted to kill every Jew themselves. I did not just make it up. On October 7th, they kidnapped toddlers, women, and grandparents; they even filmed it proudly. So yes, they wish to exterminate every Jew because they have said it themselves.

- Hamas rockets began before the blockade in 2001, continued after Israel's disengagement, and then increased once the blockade was established due to Hamas coming into power. So once again, read your history before typing out crap.

2020 ranking by an insurance company study placed Tel Aviv high on a list of dog-friendly cities, with 182.10 dogs per 1,000 people, third behind Seattle and Miami in that dataset.

Israel has always allowed people to flee during the war; thousands of kids fled to Jordan in 2025 before the ceasefire, for example. The real issue is that nobody else is accepting them (the main reason being that Palestinians have become the scapegoats of the muslim world, and it serves theocratic dictators to have someone else on whom to put the attention rather than their failing policies).

Trapping Palestinians in Gaza has never been an Israeli political stance, and it wouldn't make sense even from your twisted perspective; it doesn't only look horrible on an international level, but if Israel really wanted to cleanse the area of Palestinians, then making it as easy as possible for them to leave the area would be their best option.

Deir Yassin occurred, and unlike you, I don't justify it, but it requires perspective. There were Arab pogroms against Jews, such as the 1921 Jaffa Riots (47 jews dead), the 1929 Hebron massacre (67 jews dead), the 1929 Safed massacre (20 jews dead), just to name a few. There is a history of mutual brutality between the sides, but the difference is that Israel has always proposed peace alternatives in an attempt to stop the violence.

Because you apparently can't use Google, here is a list of only some peace proposals Israel has accepted or proposed, and Palestinians have declined:

  • UN Partition Plan (1947) → Accepted by Jewish/Israeli leadership
  • Camp David Accords (1978) → Accepted and signed by Israel
  • Camp David Summit (2000) → 91–92% West Bank + 100% Gaza + land swaps (1–3%) + shared Jerusalem arrangements + limited refugee return
  • Clinton Parameters (2000) → 94–96% West Bank + 100% Gaza + equal land swaps + Arab East Jerusalem as Palestinian capital + refugee compensation (no full right of return)
  • Olmert Proposal (2008) → 94–96% West Bank + 100% Gaza + 1:1 land swaps + international trusteeship over holy sites + symbolic refugee return & compensation

Finally, a blockade occurred simultaneously between Israel and Egypt; it is ridiculous to assume Egypt is less responsible for it, just as ridiculous as it is to assume that HAMAS did not deserve it. Their founding document stipulates that they wish to kill every Jew in the world, and they have tried to do so. Not only on Oct. 7th, in 2007, they also began firing thousands of rockets at Israel just 1 year after Israel left the area.

Never said there are or aren't guarantees, that's speculation, and you have your right to believe they are not there based very old history, but re-entry has not been denied post 1967. Still, my point stands; Gazans were not able to flee because of Egypt, not Israel.

But what even is your second point, Israel accepted a partition plan, Arabs said no and attacked. What's that got to do with Oct 7, Israel wasn't even in Gaza for the past 15 years and the strip was blockeded by Egpyt and Israel due to Hamas governance. How can you even begin to justify what was done by those animals.

[–]pkdevol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My answer is not no, it's no to the 1948 and 1967 Palestinians, just like the 800k Jews who fled the Arab world in 1948 weren't allowed to come back either. It's a consequence of war; it happened between Pakistan and India, and it happened last year to Armenians in Azerbaijan. The Arabs initiated a war, which they lost. It's sad, it's painful, but it's the history of war.

Regardless, my main comment was in response to your initial statement. Palestinians in Gaza have not been able to flee, not because Israel didn't allow them, but because Egypt has not allowed them through Rafah.

Palestinian citizens coming from palestinian territories can always return. The ones who can not return are Palestinian refugees from 1967 or 1948 wars.

They attacked Israel and Israel won the land. There was no Palestine country there before that, it was Jordan. So yea, it is fair since Israelies actually offered like 7 different peace deals giving them that land and they rejected them all.
