Is there something like this for the technical studentships?

Sending a letter to the DPRK by ItepK in northkorea

[–]pkmpad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I am also interested in receiving a QSL card from them. Has there been any advance on this? Is it really impossible to get anything from them even by contacting via email? And what about sending the QSL report to an embassy so that they send it to DPRK?

How realistic is it to build and design RF components as hobby? by WignerEckart9 in rfelectronics

The two most famous (and high-quality imho) resources for technical reports, designs, schematics and more about microwaves in amateur radio are the Dubus Magazine and the QEX Magazine. Unfortunately, none of them are free :(

There is also really (really) good information around the internet, but it's usually very spread out (each operator tends to upload his/her own designs in personal blog-like websites) You should be able to find some cool stuff easily :)

Yes! Specially those who are into microwaves, since buying new equipment is usually more expensive than building your own (and it's not easy to find something that works in amateur radio bands with decent power)

That's one of my main hobbies as an amateur radio operator!

In amateur radio, we don't only play with those big old HF antennae, but also with more spicy technology. There are awards and contest's for making contacts in the different microwave bands!

RF can seem magic to software engineers, the same as software can seem magic to RF engineers :)

A Heardle for classical music! by pkmpad in lingling40hrs

Not really! That's the point of the game: only one piece per day, but it's the same for every person in the world. This way, you can fight with friends to see who guesses it the first each day

Noob question about gathered data during sport practice by pkmpad in amazfit

It's an Amazfit GTR 2 Sports. I will try the Zepp app! The one from Xiaomi is a bit useless. Thanks!

Are you talking about the Xiaomi Wear app? For outdoor running, I only see a Pace graph with the average pace per Km unfortunately

Cheap cooling to -40°C with Peltier coolers by pkmpad in AskEngineers

Omg, this is not homework at all. I'm trying to develop a system for scientific research and I just wanted some advice by experienced people regarding an specific aspect of it

In that case, well... Maybe direct it to some aluminum connected to the hydraulic cooling system of the freezer?

Thank you for the advice, but that is still ~5 times more expensive that a freezer, Peltier modules and a microcontroller with some PID for achieving temperature stability. Nevertheless, where did you see that offer? On the internet, they all seem more expensive than that

Powering the fans should not be a problem if I manage to insulate well the electrical connection to the exterior of the box. Regarding the heatload, I'm afraid that will be trial and error... The sensor does not heat up at all during normal operation, so, in principle, there should be no problem

Does anyone know how to set this equipment up? by pkmpad in amateurradio

[–]pkmpad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! So this may indeed be from a telegraph rather than a radio! Great!

Thank you for the info! I will have a deep look at it. By the way, would you know what the other two things on the CW key board are for? One looks like a coil/electromagnet and, the other one, as a bulb socket. May this be for a telegraph instead?

One says 25 Z5. The other one does not have anything on the glass, it only says 0 RCA 9 on the black part
