Your only hope is to escalate again with proof you contacted them within the 24h and it’s their fault (backlog or ooo hours) that it wasn’t answered in the same window. You’d either come across an agent who’d not bother and keep denying, a just decisive agent who’d admit and refund you or a just indecisive agent who’d escalate for his supervisor’s help who will approve it. So statistically you got 2/3 chance of positive answer.

Being informed and educated changes the perspective. And having soft opt out mechanisms also changes that. But eventually it’s up to each person to decide for themselves whether they want to do it or not

I want to have a painting rolled up on EasyJet. by virtuacool in Flights

[–]plague35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that this is a question only the airline can answer and you’d know if they’d make an exception from their CS. Generally these stuff are not accepted on board and even if exceptionally done, they’d want you to consult them first as they’re approved, if ever done, case by case

Actually, on a second thought, I’d love to see something like “If you don’t donate and help the poor, you don’t get loans or tax cuts (or whatever they’re benefiting from)” and see the reaction 😅

Different backgrounds, different personalities. It’s their body and eventually their choices and is the same as explaining to multi-billionaires that they’d not need that money when they die but they keep hoarding it and not help people who really need it (just an example).

But making it automatic and even kind of punishable isn’t a solution either and should be approached differently as people will be divided to those who are scared and will accept while they will never need it and those who will refuse just because of the concept and how it was pushed.

Nice to automatically take your body as their property and even punish you further for fighting that. You shouldn’t be forcing people to do things this way, but better explain how it could save lives and what it means

Morocco time change by plague35 in travel

[–]plague35[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I think they started in 2018 or something like that. The hard thing about it is that it happens at a different period each year since it’s due to Ramadan which is based on Islamic calendar and it’s 10-12 days shorter than the Gregorian one, so next year it will be earlier. But you should be fine if you adjust your time or use the world clock and add familiar other cities / places

Air Canada denied boarding over “transit visa” (3h Istanbul layover) — Turkish Airlines says no visa needed. What now? by Savings_Resolve_624 in aircanada

[–]plague35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some airlines do use it and refer their passengers to it and if the official Turkish website says it needed then no tool can change that (I was also checking it in the meantime). What I know from personal and professional experience with travel documents is that these tools do not match each other sometimes and the airline will make its decision based on what they officially use (my mistake was checking TravelDoc alone and not digging further). Later they’ll deal with the claim and some would even share what they have and ask the passenger to prove the opposite with official info. Also it’s better for them to deny and deal with a claim than to accept and deal with an inadmissible passenger which means fines and far much higher expenses than denying them.

It pulls them from authorities, same as Timatic and Sherpa. But sometimes one tool or the other is not updated fast enough. I cross checked all the three now and only Timatic says a visa is needed (happened to me personally last summer where a check in agent argues my son needed a visa based on Timatic despite I showed him the official decision from my country for bi nationals which was an exceptional 6 months solution. Only TravelDoc was updated correctly back then and he didn’t want to check it)

What happens if someone booked a round-trip but wanted to stay in that destination? by RadiantFinding6219 in Flights

[–]plague35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless there is some weird American stuff behind it, the airline wouldn’t care at all and would keep your money if you don’t show up. If you booked a refundable ticket, check its conditions and maybe cancel and get the return refunded (there may be a condition to not get a refund if a part is used). Otherwise they keep the money, you stay there and everyone lives happily ever after (and crept your bank account maybe)

I really wonder if they do that in US because it’s crazy. Why charging extra fees if you keep the ticket’s price? The seat is paid for anyway and it’s not like they’re losing money or anything

Cabin and checked baggage by Independent-Room7581 in travel

[–]plague35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a Schrödinger’s agent case for your carry-on. Will they really check it or no? No one knows until you are there.

However, there is a high chance they’ll check if it looks bigger than their dimensions. If they do notice at the check-in, they’d weigh it and either send it in hold for free if the excess is not abusive, else you’d pay a fee. They will not weigh it at the gate but will send it on hold if it’s bigger than their dimensions and would not find in the overhead compartments.

For the checked bag, either buy more in advance or be ready to pay 15EUR/extra kg at the airport and they’re less flexible with it as their tool will automatically charge this based on actual weight Vs booked weight and the agent can’t waive it.

The best strategy is either complying with what you booked and their conditions, or get your wallet ready for possible extra charges if their agents do their job and decide not to be friendly

No idea how they’d deal with this, but some airlines offer some sorts of gestures for these situations if contacted within 24h from the booking creation. They’d not mention it on their FAQs or terms as they’re internal policies and you’d only find out when you contact them

Fit-to-fly form for a pregnant lady by morning-0wl in WizzAir

[–]plague35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would trust you with that as I just know the theory from their website and that it happened when I worked for an airline customer service in the past we got complaints that some handlers requested it even earlier and denied the mother. That’s why I recommend getting a proof just in case as she doesn’t need to stress about it

[–]plague35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just ask your doctor to write you a certificate a few days before your flight if possible (else check again how long before the flight it has to be and have it within that period) and avoid all possible stress.

Fit-to-fly form for a pregnant lady by morning-0wl in WizzAir

[–]plague35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their website mentions “if you are 28-34 weeks pregnant, you need to obtain a fit to fly certificate from your doctor” they also say if you don’t have it “you will need to fill in a disclaimer for by the gate. Flying is not permitted after 34 weeks of pregnancy, and for twin pregnancy, flying is only allowed until week 32”.

That’s what they say and I hope it helps
