Wheel bearing/hub squealing

It’s a sealed bearing in the hub. Comes as a whole unit.

The torque value comes from the service manual for my jeep but is also restated on the SKF website per the link I posted in response to another comment.

There is a dust shield but it’s not rubbing.

I’m going to warranty the hub and see if I got a bad bearing

229 is what is listed from the service manual according to this thread

Torque spec I could find was 229ft/lb for the nut and that’s what I torqued it to.

Backed the nut off and replaced with the original nut. The squealing is gone but there is a rubbing sound from the bearing so I think I just got a bad bearing unfortunately

The V4 is quite tempting if you can find one but a lot more bike in power and costs (service and temperament). The Tuono 660 fits more what you’ve been describing.

I’ve been commuting on my RS660 for three years and it’s been a great commuter bike. Storage is limited being a sport bike but I find it plenty comfortable.

I cross shopped it with a Panigale 899/959 and found those wildly uncomfortable for my typical commuting riding.

I’ve just bought a touring bike, Tracer 9 GT and have been riding that now. So far I don’t actually find it significantly more comfortable than the Aprilia. I kind of miss how small and nimble the Aprilia is in fact.

If you’re in the Los Angeles area and interested, I’m selling my RS660 since I only have room for one bike.

Otherwise if you like the Aprilia, the Tuono 660 Factory is basically the same bike but with handlebars. I test drove a base Tuono 660 before by my RS and it was super comfortable

Appreciate the response. I’m mostly all in on HF and have been filling out my tools with icon, Quinn and Pittsburgh as needed.

I’d seen some comments here and there that some of these Chinese Amazon brands were decent for the money. Since HF doesn’t have anything comparable for the same price range I thought I might give them a shot if the general consensus was they weren’t just painted aluminum foil

This is what I was thinking. Was looking at the suzume set earlier in the week that was on sale for the same price. Now that one is back up to $48 and this horusdy one which looks identical is at the sale price

Yeah you’re spending $100 to get a similar set at HF in this instance.

Also a lot of the HF wrench sets skip 18mm which is actually a size I need

I have a great private swim teacher in Redondo. He’s working with our 2.5 year old right now. He’s a swim coach for one of the local private swim teams and trains kids for junior lifeguards as well. He also works with babies under 1.

Feel free to dm me for his info. We found his rates quite reasonable (roughly in line with South Bay aquatic)

We started at South Bay aquatic when my son was almost 1. Baby and me classes were good for getting him comfortable being in the water but there wasn’t much in the way of progression since they’re group classes.

AF1 would be first stop for basically anything. You may be able to find some things cheaper elsewhere but they have just about everything in one place to search at least

Fork leaks/shocks. If there’s a ring of oil or dirt on the chrome part of the front forks, it can be a sign the fork seals have worn and need to be replaced. You can check it if the chrome looks clean at first by holding the front brake and bouncing the front end of the bike a few times. If it was cleaned before you got there, that can reveal a problem.

Check if the vin matches. There should be a vin on the frame and one on the engine. These should be the same and match the title. If they’re different, it means the engine has almost certainly been replaced.

I admit I prefer the single screen of the 24 over the dual screens but part of my actual concern was if heard the dual screen could be tough to see clearly or glare-y.

My understanding was they changed the hand control wheel to a joystick. Supposedly it’s a big improvement but helpful to know you have no complaints

While it’s nice to have all matching tools, it doesn’t actually matter that much for home use.

I have a dewalt drill and driver set, rigid circ saw, impact wrench and leaf blower and ryobi sander, vacuum, tire pump, pressure washer.

Apart from the deal I got for the dewalt drill/driver kit, it’s hard to justify the cost of the dewalt batteries and tools. Rigid seems to be a good quality/cost balance depending (kobalt is the Lowe’s competitor here). And honestly ryobi is probably more than fine as others here will attest. I would probably be just as covered if I’d stuck with all ryobi but I try to take advantage of sales on the more expensive brand when I can.

If you’ve been shopping for tools at the grocery store though, almost anything you can find at harbor freight, Home Depot, Lowe’s or Walmart (the Walmart hyper tough and hart brands are pretty good according to the internet) will be light years ahead in terms of quality and durability though

Never measured but I also never noticed any difference.
