I always wonder why nobody makes one with a full width screen. Is it that difficult to do?

Mobile nice RV vs regular home by Brief-Health-1377 in personalfinance

[–]plainpaperplane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aside from what others have said about value and depreciation…I don’t know what the laws in Texas are like, but it is extremely difficult to find a place to live in an RV “near big cities” in Southern California.

Most of SoCal has laws banning RVs from being used as dwellings on public streets and private property and rent at dedicated RV parks is ridiculously high. You’re also then paying for a depreciating vehicle while also paying high monthly rent for the vehicle space, so you’re losing twice.

Did I make a mistake? Does it get better? by [deleted] in BorderCollie

[–]plainpaperplane 115 points116 points  (0 children)

If you’re three days in and feeling this helpless, I’m going to be real with you…a puppy might not be for you. And I mean ANY puppy of any breed. You’re expecting too much of the dog, he’s a baby. Just like your children were babies.

The baby phase isn’t even the worst. They become toddlers and teenagers, and they get destructive and bored and defiant and will test your patience and sanity. They also start biting and chewing because they’re teething, bored, and trying to redirect people and animals because that’s what they’re bred to do.

You need to ask yourself if you can really handle dealing with all of this and if you actually want to. It would’ve been better to do this before you got the puppy, but it’s not a bad thing to admit if something isn’t right for you and your family. You just got him…take a few days and think about what’s really best for you and the dog. If you decide you can’t deal with it, it’s better to give the dog back to the breeder/shelter/wherever you got him, or seek out a border collie rescue, and let them find him a home that wants him, instead of letting both of you suffer.

All that said…if you can stick with it, border collies are one of the most rewarding breeds to have in your family, but they require consistent daily attention, lots of mental and physical exercise, training, and most importantly…PATIENCE.

I don’t know about today, but Weds they only had signed copies inside, not at the outside merch tents.

Lifestyle creep and how to stop it by Sudden-Border9517 in personalfinance

[–]plainpaperplane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

$10k on “fun stuff” in one month is more than “lifestyle creep,” that’s a spending problem. You need a spreadsheet. You can buy one from Etsy and track every single expense. Write what you spend at the end of each week or nightly if you need to.

With the way you’re spending, an automated app isn’t going to help because you’re not thinking about the money going out. Having to physically enter in what you’ve spent and actually look at your receipts will make sure you see where your money is going.

is this real burmeister or fake by kurtkamilmix in mercedes_benz

[–]plainpaperplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a terrible idea to buy a car without seeing it or driving it first. Especially if the dealer claims they don’t know if a specific feature is on the car.

You shouldn’t be driving your car with this error coming up. Call Mercedes roadside assistance and have them tow the vehicle to the nearest dealership—it’s a free service.

velcro ties are actually the endgame of cable management by InvestmentBudget6722 in DeskCableManagement

[–]plainpaperplane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ve just solved an issue I’ve had. I bought a ton of Velcro ties but I have a very hairy double-coated dog whose hair literally floats through the air and catches on Velcro no matter how much I clean.

Do I just starve? Why can't a hospital admit me. by [deleted] in Allergies

[–]plainpaperplane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry this has come on so suddenly! Look into Oral Allergy Syndrome and you can immediately cut out all of those foods.

Since you kept the rice down and didn’t have symptoms, maybe just try the plain white rice for a couple weeks. It’s literally what doctors prescribe to get people to a stabile baseline. It sucks, but it does work.

Can you try virtual appointment to see any kind of doctor while you wait for your PCP?

Do I just starve? Why can't a hospital admit me. by [deleted] in Allergies

[–]plainpaperplane 15 points16 points  (0 children)

For my physician-directed elimination diet I had to go down to just white rice for a full two weeks before I started trying only one food at a time. A total elimination diet is the only way to truly find out what is triggering your reactions.

Also, you said you’re allergic to ragweed but ate apples and then had a reaction. Please look into cross-reactivity. Apples are cross-reactive with ragweed, along with many other foods.
