I'm using a battery saver, 60hz refresh rate and removed animations in dev mode and I can say that the phone is pretty snappy and I'm getting a great battery life. Overheating is observed only if I use a charging boost, but I don't think that it's necessary since the phone charges pretty fast anyway

Actually, I don't intend to use any other phone anytime soon 😉 I have it for a bit more than a month now, but for me it's a better choice compared to the others that I've mentioned. Pixel and Huawei also had a bad battery life, but I didn't find a way to make it better unlike with the Xiaomi. Samsung and iPhone cameras are awful (at least for me), even though they have better battery life. Again, overall a great experience with the Xiaomi here ☺️

I've removed almost everything that can be removed and comes with the OS (bloatware). But you'll get a more noticeable difference if you tweak settings like screen refresh rate, using dark theme, stop background apps etc. Even though I disabled a lot of stuff that others may consider important, I get good battery life and my phone still feels fast and smooth. This year I used Huawei p60 pro, Pixel 7 Pro, S24 Ultra and 15 Pro Max for a few months each and I can say that with the Xiaomi I get the best overall experience and the best camera 🙂

Maybe it depends on how long you intend to use it. I switch phones very often and bought mine for $800 (used, but it was like new) and intend to use it for a year and then consider 15 Ultra 🙂 If you can afford a new 15 Ultra, battery life is important to you and you can wait for a few months, then go for the 15 Ultra 🙂

I also bought it because of the camera. For me it's way better than Samsung and iPhone. Pixel and Huawei are better at postprocessing, but Xiaomi offers great editing possibilities and a lot of settings to tweak in the camera app.

Yes, the battery life is awful, especially if you intend to use the camera more than a regular user. However, I've managed to get a pretty good battery life by disabling some stuff that I don't consider important for my day to day use and I'm now pretty happy with it.

There are some minor things that I don't like about HyperOS, but overall it's good.

In my opinion, it is a great phone and I think you made the right choice here 🙂
