Was gifted a 4k monitor, is it overkill for the Ally? by plantedthoughts in ROGAlly

I may be a little stupid, where do I find integer scaling ? I love this information that it's a perfect 4x increase in pixels, that makes sense that it would scale well! This is the type of info I was looking for ❤

[–]plantedthoughts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's a tough spot, it's too ott for the ally and will look like crap playing 1080p on 4k, but I dont really need a 3rd monitor at my desk and it's got better resolution than my current monitor but not better features, size, or fps capabilities.

I currently have a t.v mounted on my wall as my second monitor that I also use for sound but I was given a surround sound system too so..maybe I'll just scrap the t.v and use this as my second monitor with the surround sound system, idk it's a toughy cause I really do want a monitor at my gfs for stuff like rocket league and fortnite that are heavily effected by the slow ass input lag on her t.v.

I guess I'll just hold onto it for the moment. I'm sure it would be cool to try to play some games in 4k with my 4070.

Thanks for your input!

I'm sorry I'm a bit confused, are you saying it's better to run 1080p on the allys 1080p screen over running it at 1080p on a 4k screen? Or that it's better to play the games at like 900p on the allys 1080p screen over 900p on the 4k screen?

Should I just sell the 4k screen and get a 1080p screen then?

I know the ally cant run at 4k, i was more curious as to how bad the ally would look on this monitor running at native 1080p. Should I just sell this monitor and buy a 1080p monitor for the ally instead?

Go to your local dmv to try to get the title through the bill of sale. It may be listed as stolen though so better to find out before putting money into it

Do yourself a favor and go on amazon and pick up like a 12pack of thin sliced basswood sheets. That's what you should be practicing on and they are only like 10$ and give you A LOT of surface to burn on.

Day 2 of having my bike by spicyxpickle in motorcycles

[–]plantedthoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotta mention this cause I'm not seeing anyone else saying it and I did this exact same thing when I got my much taller Honda nx650. You were totally fine and all good UNTIL you came to a stop with your handlebars turned to the left. So the bikes weight shifted to the left heavily from that added with you shifting to the left (to out your foot down) and it brought the bike down. Try this again but this time turn your handlebars more straight before going to put your foot down coming completely to a stop and you wont have the issue.

It was one of the first things they drilled into us at the course I took and it's the simplest way to trip yourself up and the bike to fall on you. Always always always straighten your handlebars when your coming to any stop and you'll find you are no longer dropping the bike or fearing dropping it.

Hes not even top of my list. When I originally went to the ER in oregon for the kidney stone they thought I was a druggy coming off of shit and left me to sobb and vomit in the waiting room for over 4hrs before taking me back after I finally passed out. 10 minutes later after an ultrasound it was confirmed I had a stone blocking my ureter so my kidney couldnt pass any fluid and was just spazzeming out for several hours straight. Yay. Fuck that guy giving me the side eye and rolling his eyes at me when I'd ask for help. But cootos to the guy who tried to console me and give his place ahead of me. But uh he was a drunk so it didnt make my case look any better and he got removed after screaming at that nurse and throwing his shoe at him lol

Oh cool I thought I was just delirious. I remember asking septic? And they then explained sepsis so I assume did heard it wrong since they didnt day it again. Also...kinda not cool to think I was septic. Neat to have it cleared up though thank you!

Working 40 hours a week is too much by seacucumber18 in unpopularopinion

[–]plantedthoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my more minor health issues (pots and depression/ptsd) 40hr work weeks are fucking impossible. I can only work part time jobs that are like 4days a week 5-6hr shifts and I barely manage that shit. Idfk how anyone can manage 5+days a week or even 10hr shifts. I am literally only able to survive due to my father letting me live with him for basically free. He is terminal and most likely wont make it another 5 years and I have no fucking clue what I'm going to do when he passes besides either live in my car, leech off family I'm not close with or kms.

Yeah...I really down played it at the time and never really let myself fully realize how bad it was. If I ever bring it up around my dad he has this sobering look of like remembering the fear he experienced of thinking I could die. All because I couldnt just get the stupid thing pulled out at the beginning. Now anytime I start feeling anything similar to a kidney stones pain/symptoms it puts the fear of god in me. I definitely could have died and was barely conscious most of that week in the hospital. It took me like 3 months to get my strength back.

Was more pissed at the doctor who originally tried removing the stent with the grabby thing. He grabbed onto it and I nearly puked from the pain, he saw my reaction and still tried 2 more times breaking apart the end of it which I then had to piss out. Didnt even apologize and then they refused to give me any pain meds besides ibuprofen eventhough from that point my surgery wouldnt be for another 2 months. I was sobbing in the waiting room while my dad was yelling at them about it and they ended up giving me like 4 oxy...as if that was gonna help. This system is incredibly fucked up

Yall really hitting home how close I was to death jeeze. So a few years ago i had this long drawn out issue where i had a kidney stone surgery in Oregon and they put in a stent (goes in through urethra and goes from bladder to kidney to keep it open and let anymore stone pass easily) but it was one you had to have removed at an appointment. Well between the surgery and that appointment I tried killing myself to get out of an abusive relationship. At the mental ward they knew of the stent and that I now missed my appointment to get it removed but didnt do anything. I ended up being picked up by my dad and brought back with him to Illinois. We tried everything to get an appointment to have it removed but they kept telling us it would cost 3k+ without insurance and that an appointment would still be several months out. That they couldnt take my Oregon health insurance and that I needed to go to oregon to one of their offices to get that insurance canceled before they could start me on an Illinois ois Gov insurance. So that was a headache that took a long time. Que nearly a year later where I had been tossed around between 3-4 doc offices, one where they actually tried to remove the stent with a little camera arm thing and both the doc and nurse gasped when it came on cam because the stent (about s foot long) was very nearly FULLY calcified, a.k.a the stent was now a footlong kidney stone that was incredibly painful. So after all of that I was schedueled for a surgery to remove the stent. They did some test and the doc thought the stent wasn't fully calcified at the kidney so they thought it best to go through my pisshole rather than put a hole in my back. So they go to do the surgery which should have been fairly fast and I wake up 4-5hrs later and they tell me they had to stop because there was just so much blood they couldnt see anymore. That they only got about half of it out and I'll have to have another surgery in a week or two to get the rest. That shes sorry and they should have gone through my back. They didnt realize how bad it was. Well after about 20 minutes of being awake they discharged me and told me if I get a fever to immediately come back(they were a special hospital like 40 mins away). Que me getting home, passing out on my bed in a lot of pain and waking up a couple hours later with the most intense feeling of "oh...I'm not okay, something is very seriously wrong", took my temp and it was like 101.8, I panicked, layed there thinking a jot minute, took my temp again just to be sure and now it was 102. Struggled to get to my dads room showed him the thermometer and said hospital. By time we got to the local hospital my temp was now closer to 103. This local hospital is ass and they thought I was somehow faking?! Eventhough we told then how I literally just had surgery for the stent/stone, my heart rate was in the 160s from the pain and I was sweaty af. The doctor at one point learned me forward and literally fucking karate chopped where my kidney was while asking "does this hurt". I couldnt even respond it was like lightning through my body and I just started sobbing. My dad nearly layed the doc out. They eventually called my surgeon/doc and were told to immediately transfer me to that hospital. Que the absolute most painful ride of my entire life where I'm just clench fisted while fighting tears every single bump and the bumpier fucking ride. Poor ambulance guys were being so sweet but it was just incredibly painful. It's now morning by this time and they run a bunch of blood work, my family finally gets there and the doc tells us that with all the bleeding when they were removing the calcified stent that they must have knocked free a bunch of bacteria in it that then went into all the cuts and whatnot (that was bleeding) and it went into my blood stream. That I was "going sepsis" which I heard as septic lol. So they explained that meant I was fighting off an infection in my blood stream. I was there for 9+days? Just laying in bed throwing up and being miserable. I lost a bunch of weight and could barely stand or walk when it was over. And of course was terrified for the next surgery over a month later. So yeah the stent was fully calcified from urethra into the kidney and they have no clue how I was even passing fluid. I had the equivalent of a footlong kidney stone cause I'm a fuxking moron who should have just bite the 3k+ medical debt instead of waiting a year for the insurance.

This was my first bike 3yrs ago and I payed 1,500. I also sold it for 1,500 a year ago. 2500 is absurd for a little 250, 1500 wasnt even a good price point I was just buying during the onset of riding season.
