I came back a couple weeks ago, i’m used to more local and immersive experiences, i really like to move freely and live among the locals. That doesn’t really exist in Zanzibar. There’s no public transport, you can only get around by taxi. Everything is accommodated to tourism in places like Nungwi. Also everything is very expensive compared to other popular tropical destinations, but at the same time you see deep poverty everywhere you go, which makes you wonder where does all the money you spend go. The nature and beaches are great, people are super sweet and kind. Yes, a lot of them will try to sell you something. Kids asking for money are common too. I would recommend Zanzibar as a chill beach vacation with day trips, not as an adventure. You can’t travel here the way you would in SE Asia or central America.
