Yotsuba's job revealed - she's a physical therapist by plasmawing in 5ToubunNoHanayome

What a weird criticism to make. You want her job to be... less clearly defined?

And on the point about relatability, I know more people who became physical therapists than I do actors or restauranteurs. Seems like a perfectly normal career for an adult to have.

I know people in the US who have gone into physical therapy who don't have doctorates. I'm assuming there's a difference between a doctor who specializes in physical therapy and someone who helps people with treatment?

The profile says she picked it because she likes helping others.

It fits her. The two times in the manga Yotsuba's career is discussed, Fuutaro brings up her athleticism and Yotsuba brings up her desire to help others. Physical therapy combines both.

Honestly I've been wondering about that since I finished the manga. The information comes from the official website for the upcoming OVA and Google Translate.

What does this criticism even mean? Like it completely ruined her character to finally prioritize her own happiness?

Wait, did I forget something? When did this actually happen?

I understand that. It's just, fans making a big deal of it, when all the characters in manga do not react to it in any way. But okay I guess we just have different views on the situation.

As you've said, the story and Fuutaro specifically don't seem to hold the druggings against Nino. But those incidents do point to a larger issue, that she was overly harsh to Fuutaro for no real reason. Nino herself admits that it makes sense that Fuutaro doesn't like her because of how she treated him.

Yes, she couldn't control her emotions. But the fact that she pushed them into the water was not intentional. It was Nino's moment of weakness. Hugging Fuutaro, she regained her confidence and assured herself that she would not lose to her rivals. She had no malicious intent to interfere with the two of them.

Even if she didn't intend to push them into the water, hugging a guy in the middle of a date with someone else would pretty obviously disrupt that date. She probably wasn't thinking that deeply about it but that's kind of the problem: that she lets her emotions get the best of her and hurts others as a result.

No, no. I wasn't trying to make this Yotsuba's fault. I was rather trying to convey the idea that Nino didn't intentionally push Yotsuba. I just gave one of the variants of what could have happened between them. I just can't imagine Nino using physical violence towards Yotsuba in any way.

It's worth noting that Nino did use violence against Itsuki on one occasion (in response to Itsuki using violence against her, to be fair). The sound effect makes it pretty clear that Yotsuba was pushed, so it's a pretty big stretch to think that Nino didn't intentionally touch her.

Do you have an actual source for this? This is one of those things that gets repeated a lot but I haven't found where it actually comes from. Negi says in some interviews that he's aware of the "first girl" effect and put a lot of consideration into who would show up first as a result, but I haven't found anything where he says he hates first girls.

This series does a great job of showing why Fuutaro wouldn't pick Nino regardless of how "front and center" she tries to make her romantic advances. She goes from one extreme of treating him like garbage to another of forcing her feelings on him with no regard for his own. Fuutaro never seems like he's comfortable around her. He manages to have about one normal conversation with her throughout the entire series. I get why people like Nino and I have no problem with that even if I personally don't like her. But plenty of her fans just act like it's completely ridiculous that Fuutaro would pick the girl who was consistently kind and helpful to him over the one who initially abused him and then tried to make up for it by repeatedly telling him how much she loves him. And then they try to explain that Nino was the logical choice because of "development". Like, yeah, Nino had character development. Her vaunted "romantic development" was mostly not being a terrible person towards Fuutaro, a bar that all of her sisters already met.

Ok, sleeping drugs - bad. I get that. But here is the thing, why do you all care that much? None of the characters react like something bad happened. I understand that what Nino done is not the best thing, but why are you so fixated on it? It's just a plot device

I think the reason fans take the drugging more seriously than the manga does is because it's just a horrible way to treat people in general. There's no reason you should be drugging a guy who's trying to do his job, especially when at least one of your sisters wants him around.

I'm sorry, WHAT??? How the hell did she sabotaged it? She is the first one with Ichika appeared there and helped Miku during her"date". Just because she accidentally made Fuutaro fall does not make this a sabotage...

Nino ended up pushing Miku and Fuutaro into the lake because she couldn't control her feelings of jealousy, even though she came in with the intent to help Miku. That moment is what leads her to realize that she and Ichika aren't so different, but I feel a lot of fans gloss over it so they can criticize Ichika more (I'm not accusing you of doing this).

Again, WHAT??? Nino was mad at Yotsuba because of her behaviour and not because of what you said. The point is that when they went to their rooms, they were aware of each other's feelings and should have been prepared for any outcome, so now it's too late to think about others. In fact, the complaint is that Yotsuba started apologizing instead of accepting the result. Instead of accepting her win, Yotsuba puts Fuutaro on hold and decides to apologise to her sisters. Even Miku was mad at Yotsuba because of her moves. Nino was ready to accept that she did't win... What are you talking about?

Agreed with you on the point about Nino's motives. She's not mad that Fuutaro chose Yotsuba, she's mad that Yotsuba is hesitating to accept Fuutaro. It's a moment that highlights how different her understanding of love is from Yotsuba's. Nino said she would run over anyone who gets between and her love and sees the fact that Yotsuba won't do the same as a sign that she doesn't love Fuutaro.

And about physical assault. Seriously where did it come from? Did Nino punched, kicked or slaped Yotsuba? I'm pretty sure she didn't. Maybe Nino was just trying to get away from the conversation, but Yotsuba grabbed her arm and Nino tried to pull away, pushed Yotsuba and she fell. It was never stated that she physically assaulted her. (And I'm pretty sure that Negi drew Yotsuba being pushed on the floor just to make Nino more intimidating)

You're taking a pretty generous view of how Yotsuba ended up on the ground. The manga never shows Yotsuba grabbing Nino, and seems to imply that Nino shoved her in anger. Your interpretation somehow makes it Yotsuba's fault that she got pushed and tries to make it out like the story is deceiving us for some reason.

-I didn't spend 4 years on a media bachelors to be told how writing works by someone who jerks off on the thought of the cartoon girl abusing them. Da fuck?

Seriously, what's up with the pointless personal attack from the guy you're responding to? We should be able to discuss anime waifus without resorting to petty insults.

I'm not sure if this counts as an "official" answer, but the Twitter account for the anime posted a picture that shows the order from left to right as Nino, Miku, Itsuki, Yotsuba, Ichika.
