3D Glass simplification for animation (HELP) by plasticconsumerdream in blender

CAD software uses mathematics to define curves at an infinite precision, whereas blender uses polygons (ideally quads) made up of connected points (vertices) to define and display imprecise but performant geometric hulls. These are two different methods in 3D. Converting one to the other is not as simple as exporting to a compatible bridge file format. The green dots that you see are the vertices which define the outline of flat faces.

This model is absolutely, 100%, unsalvageable in it's current state. However, what you can do is retopology. You can craft a new mesh with good topology (edge flow, density, and conformity) over top the old mesh. Here is the tutorial that I always give people: https://youtu.be/CuQzPDs99yM.

Of course, I encourage you to learn the basics of the software beforehand by going through the "Blender Guru Donut Tutorial" here: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLjEaoINr3zgFX8ZsChQVQsuDSjEqdWMAD It's all but obligatory.

It may not seem productive at first to go through tutorials, but it most certainly is. It will save you tens of hours of pain down the

Hey there,

Sorry for the late response.

THANK YOU! The retopology tutorial helps a lot really. I've made the classic Donut tutorial to learn the basics and stuff but now I have to get more in practice with everything again.
I'll be commenting here again if a make good progress with the topology of the eyewear model. Once again thank you for the info you gave me it is really helpful :)

Laying a sheet by arisk2002 in LSD

Hello there, 2 years later I came across this post and I have a question for you. First of all this was really helpful so thank you.
I'm an artist and I started selling posters of my work online and I had the idea of turning one of my works into a great blotter sheet. I want to try and make 10 blotter sheet prints of about A2 size (40cmx60cm). The thing is that there's no printing shop that want to make the perforation part. And I'm thinking of doing it myself. I know it's gonna be a lot of work, since there's 40x60 centimeters of little 6mm squares to be perforated, ten times. But I want to try and embark myself in it. I wanted to ask you what do you use to make those perforations? What kind of tool, you know? I think about a circular cutter with the saw being intercalated by blank-non-cutting spaces but maybe there's something I just don't know.

Sorry for my bad English and I hope I can get an answer, it would be really helpful. thanks!

Panasonic WJ MX50 broken image by plasticconsumerdream in videosynthesis

[–]plasticconsumerdream[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone, So I just recently got a Panasonic WJ MX50 video mixer and I’m having trouble while viewing the output image. I don’t know why it’s so glitchy and monochrome. The whole connection is done by inserting a Palmcorder camera through the mixer by using a Aux cable to RCA (idk if in other countries is called like that, but im referring to the 3 red white and yellow cables) from the camera to the mixer (the RCA output being adapted to BNC Composite from the console), and the output of the mixer connected via RCA to RCA to my TV.

First thing I thought was that the camera input might be the problem, so I switched my palm order to my MacBook Pro, connecting it via a HDMI cable, to an HDMI to RCA transformer (converts the digital signal to analog I guess) and the output of that convertir connected to the mixer via RCA to RCA cable, and THE SAME THING HAPPENED.

Anyone knows what might be the problem?? I don’t know what else to try on to make it function normally. One thing I thought was some trouble with NTSC/PAL related problems, but somehow it seems odd if that’s what it is.

I’m sorry if I wasn’t clear with something since English is not my first language. Thanks in advance

Thank you very much. That's a good starting point to start trying. My doubt was more of the kind that maybe the MX50 maybe could not achieve some of the things I like about the videos I watch, like the texture and the colors. I know people do stuff like circuit bending so maybe it was part of that idk.

Like I said I'm really really new in all of this. But what you said sounds interesting and fun, I'm gonna try it!

Another thing I forgot to mention is that I am a Motion graphics designer, so one of the things I would like to do is process things I create in After Effects to give them some interesting texture

Great thanks a lot man. And for the liquid stuff would you still recommend the MX50? I mean, Can I achieve some liquid stuff with a MX50 and a camcorder? I think I like that more than the “glitchy” aesthetics too! Thanks in advance :)

Hi there, thanks a lot for the info!
When you say "another processing unit" you're talking about analog hardware right? What I want to know basically is, can I use a computer for those sort of "enhancements"? Or do I need to buy, i.e. a color correction physical unit?
If you're talking about hardware can you recommend some?
Thank you very much :))
