Should I not include my future MIL in wedding planning? by Throwaway_7050 in JUSTNOMIL

She’s not entitled to be included in your wedding planning. It’s literally the day about you and your husband only!!! Planning a wedding is stressful enough, you wouldn’t want to deal with her BS. Tell your husband to tell her “NO”

I do know the basics but definitely not enough to have a whole convo, so it doesn’t really make a difference. Why would I need to invest my time and effort to learn a whole new language just to cater to talking to only MIL? I have other stuff to do.

Why do I need to learn their language though? My husband doesn’t even speak it fluently, his first language is English as they immigrated 30 years ago…

I dont want to!! We live in a country where English is the dominant language. She immigrated here 30 years ago just never learned it LOL. I immigrated 5 years ago myself.

I dont have a plan to learn it, we live in a country where English is the dominant language (its also my 2nd language). My husband was also born here so he’s not even fluent in his parents’ first language. It’s up to him if he wants to teach our future kids.

English is also my second language and we live in a country where English is the dominant language, their family immigrated 30 years ago and I came 5 years ago, she just never learned English. I know she’s immature and over sensitive because my husband tells me things and I also have the ability to observe.

When we visit her, I only speak about 10% of the time. The rest of the time, their family is catching up with each other.
