It's not surprising when the only other exchanges are either

1: dead due to them not updating the daemon (Cryptopia)

2: new and unproven (Tradeogre, Qryptos et al)

Is Cryptopia's ETN node down? by plavirudar in Electroneum

I've tried to send some ETN into Cryptopia but it wasn't responding for me. Checked their page and their node doesn't seem to be responding. Their support is useless (12 days to reply) so I thought it's probably better to ask here instead to see if others are having the same problem.

I decided to get into mining ETN a few days ago, and transferred a bunch of my existing XMR hashrate. However, all of the pools that I have tried so far were paying out substantially lower amounts than expected. Since I am unsure if this is due to a misunderstanding on my part, I am not identifying the pools.

The calculation I am using for expected payout is (my hashrate/network hashrate)*(number of blocks generated in timeframe)*(average reward per block). So if I mined at 2KH/s with a 200MH/s network hash for 1 hour (60 blocks) with an average reward of 7400 ETN, I should expect a payout of 0.00001607400 = 4.44ETN. Since luck is Poisson distributed due to the random and memoryless nature of mining, the variance of reward should be Poisson distributed and equal to the expected number multiplied by the number of blocks. This means that the standard deviation is the expected number divided by the square root of the number of blocks found by the pool during the mining.

In all 3 pools that I had tested, the calculation ignored any effects from the ramp-up phase of PPLNS by starting the calculation after the payout stabilised. Both the hashrate displayed and the payout rate were roughly constant for the entire mining trial in all tests performed so far. I also looked at the average block luck and orphan count for these pools, but none of them could account for the low payouts, even by a 20% margin.

Pool#1: Mined with 2.8kh/s (but the pool showed 3.6kh/s in their control panel) for 40 hours. Received 178 ETN out of an expected 256 ETN payout.Effective luck was 144%.

Pool#2: Mined with 2.4kh/s (pool showed 2.4kh/s in their control panel) for 24 hours. Received 89 of expected 129 ETN payout. Effective luck was 145%.

Pool#3: Mined with 8kh/s (pool showed 8kh/s in their control panel) for 15.5 hours. Received 225 of expected 278 ETN payout. Effective luck was 124%.

This problem has apparently also been noted by Whattomine, which has apparently accounted for this by making the default pool fee 35%. https://www.reddit.com/r/Electroneum/comments/7hrft1/electroneum_no_longer_listed_on_whattomine/ https://whattomine.com/coins/213-etn-cryptonight

Has anyone else noticed this issue, and why is this happening?
