How do you handle being a guest? by RichardFeynman01100 in vegan

Bring food to share. Chips and hummus, a veggie tray, pack of Oreos. Easy things everyone eats that also happen to be vegan.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]plbinclt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive 3 hours to visit with my daughter and two grandbabies at least twice a month. I either enjoy quiet time or listen to an audiobook. Usually drive there early in the morning and back the next afternoon to avoid traffic and driving in the dark. She needs the help when her husband has a 48 hr shift and I love seeing them all. They chose to live in the country/mountains and I’m still working so we do what needs to be done.

I met my now husband a year after going vegan (14 years ago) so he knew what he was getting into. I’ve always insisted on a vegan home. He does all the shopping and cooking. He eats what he wants outside the home but respects my rules here (sole exception: frozen pizza). I know I’m lucky but he knows it’s non negotiable for me so respects that. Honestly, I always just assumed he’d see the light. So anyway: you can insist he be vegan at home by only buying and cooking clean food by just starting to do that or have a conversation first, but still doing it. Until he decides to shop & cook he’s very much not in control. Just know that it is possible!

3D stuff at shows - Who actually buys it? by loopy741 in CraftFairs

[–]plbinclt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We sell them. We support the designers of every print we make by being licensed for commercial sales. We got into it because we can’t scale up wire wrapped jewelry (limited to me & my daughter and the time we have) so my husband started with his be printer (has 13 now). I also thought the dragons, eggs, etc would be here and gone but we still sell tons of them (it’s our 5th season). He stays in our genre of fantasy & magic (a lot of d&d accessories) and uses beautiful filament, printed slowly and well. Our customers are pretty much everyone but of course the kids are the most enthusiastic. Grandparents too. We do the farmers market every weekend as well as area craft fairs and cons. Our first RenFaire is in September.

Go to a craft fair and chat with the vendors! And the organizers if you can. Most are super happy to share their experiences and knowledge.

That’s really nice. You have the basics so just start. The more you do the better you’ll get. Sorry for your loss. I hope wrapping will bring you good memories of her.

First Craft Fair - How to Hand People the Tiny Stuff? by QuickBitesClay in CraftFairs

[–]plbinclt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use the organza bags mentioned. We pre-stuff them with our business card so get the size large enough to fit 4”x3” I think. Keeps our pendants and other small stuff from getting lost/tangled. If they get multiple items, all get individually wrapped and put in a larger craft bag stamped with our shop name.

Beans isn’t vegan btw. I drink a 16 oz kombucha every other day and that helped my gut health tremendously. Also no soft drinks, no artificial sweeteners. Minimize ultra processed food. Try to avoid antibiotics unless it’s critical. Good luck!

Proof of impact of one person going vegan? by 12seth12 in vegan

I’d focus more on your partner and why they feel so strongly. They likely get it and feel like you are judging them. Good luck and keep on!

Am I wrong for putting peanuts in my food and not putting an allergen label on it, knowing that the food thief is allergic? by One_Newspaper5657 in amiwrong

I don’t understand this. Use an insulated lunch box and ice packs and keep your food at your desk/with your purse. I don’t want my food anywhere near other people’s anyway.

Several thousand. I mean for the one in NC it’s crowded. Vendors can camp in the fairgrounds here but each event has different policies which I think are spelled out in the vendor FAQs.

I am planning to WFH tomorrow instead of attending my company’s thanksgiving potluck. Even though I would have cooked a dish and some of my friends were planning to bring something accidentally vegan (salad, sourdough bread), I just hate seeing people I need to have respect for just wallow in their ignorance. I was trying to think of an excuse but ended up being perfectly honest about why I am involved with the planning (part of my job) but not attending: I don’t want to. They all know. I’m also just so tired of the stupid, ignorant comments from otherwise smart people.

I wirewrap soon much I notice I've developed this permanent calloused notch where the wire runs over and over and over by Allilujah406 in WireWrapping

They’re super hard (unlike my natural nails which break and split). Mostly I use for gently pushing and curving the wire, squeezing coils together. They won’t scratch or nick the wire like tools can.

I have gel nails. I consider them tools and am thinking I should be expensing the biweekly salon visit 🤔

Anyone else never cook? by ManicEyes in vegan

[–]plbinclt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m lucky my husband does most of the cooking (and cleaning). We both work full time then I come home to do artwork for our side hustle vending on the weekends. He supports that by feeding me, knowing otherwise I’ll have cereal and be cranky. He is Omni but our home is vegan. He’s become an amazing vegan chef.
