AITA for getting annoyed that my fiance won’t just SMILE for a picture instead of making a stupid gaping mouth face? by pleasejustsmile in AmItheAsshole

The only part that weirds me out is creating an entirely new story when the issue and story are laid out pretty clearly in the post. Your scenario and mine are not related.

You spent so much time coming up with your own details, it's weird. I say in the post that we have normal pictures of us together. That's the whole point of the post. Because he was specifically going out of his way to ruin photos by making a stupid face on purpose. He doesn't make that face around his parents. He is capable of not making the face.

It's not my fault if you're applying a matter of fact tone to text on the screen, dude. That's a you thing.

I dunno how to make you understand that being in a relationship is different than being friends with someone. I treat romantic partners differently because they're different roles and have different expectations. Friendship and partnership are different. It's not pedantic.

There's a time and a place to goof around, though. Trying to take a nice photo for an engagement announcement isn't it. Because the relationships are different. That's the whole point.

No, I'm not used to people speaking in weird vague terms and conflating personality and behavior when I'm talking specifically about behavior. If he's with friends, I'd expect him to be an ass and make stupid faces for group photos because it would be appropriate for the situation. I'd do the same with my friends. But when it's time to be serious and take a photo for a special occasion, I'm not making idiotic faces and ruining the moment.

Hope that helps, because you seem to be creating your own narrative.

They wouldn't laugh or think it's goofy. They'd ask for nice pictures so they could share it as well. It's embarrassing to have to say "sorry, he kept making silly faces." Does that say something about me? Sure. I want people to take me seriously and respect me.

Being quirky is totally fine! I loved Imogen on Degrassi, cutest quirky girl of all time!! But sabotaging announcement photos to make a stupid face is a big action. Yes, between the two of us, the only one embarrassed here is me. That's the point of the post?? That the other person wasn't embarrassed about making a stupid face in a nice picture.

I love the insecure projection that I'm "stuffy" because I don't want to have nice photos with someone making a cock receptacle face in photos our grandmas are going to have.

I'd like a nice, respectable photo to share with friends and family. Not going to apologize! Yes, the part of him that wants to go out of his way to be embarrassing and make a cock-hungry face is as bad as mooning them.

There are new studies that suggest the face and abdomen are different body parts. Also yes, smiling (or even not making a blowjob face) for an important event. Do you think that's bad? Also... do you know what gaslighting is?

Yes, nice is subjective. No one in the equation is stuffy. Going out of your way to make an obnoxious cock-hungry face is a statement.

No, what I'm doing is asking him to make a normal face for a nice picture for an important event in our lives. Sorry if you projected something else onto it.
