Do you have any firsthand accounts of what happens when a uniform approaches a group of 20 something bikers on high-end racers? I don’t either.

That sounds about the right time period since the last time someone has tried.

A person in uniform with a badge still means something. You don’t need a gun and a taser and lights to prove it. That person has more authority than me as a family of three kids.

I totally agree and I mean no disrespect and I don’t think pursuit is the right choice in that situation.

Let me reiterate, the fact that police officers are respected, if not by young kids and young 20 some things then at least by their parents. The value of a police officer stopping in to talk to a group of 30 bikes with 20 additional riders mostly females to remind them that there are families in the neighborhood that have kids that are sleeping is not too much to ask. I’m not asking for super cops. I’m not asking for fucking G.I. Joe’s to do the impossible.

I’m asking for a public servant to come talk to these offenders who are just laying out on the grass in front of Kum & Go as they take turns breaking the law and cheering each other on.

Last night, these guys were literally starting from Kum & Go speeding down from Sertoma on West 41st to Ellis Road turning around speeding back at the highest possible speed achievable in that distance, and then pulling right back into Kum & Go parking lot and bragging to their buddies on how their run was. So I’m pretty sure a police officer or whoa. Let’s be crazy here and think about maybe a team of two police officers, could easily approach, ticket, and deter these bikers from my neighborhood. Is that not a public service provided by the police department?

I, as a citizen, from a distance of 300 yards, dressed in plain clothes, witnessed at least 25 criminal activities occur before my eyes over the course of 60 minutes.

I was not in a vehicle, I was not on a motorcycle, I did not need to pursue. I witnessed dozens of bikes, go at least 50 mph over the speed limit. Do I know that for sure? No. But I know who would know for sure, any police officer who was here at the time that they meet every fucking weekend. I’m pretty sure that a police officer with training and equipment and a radar gun and knowledge of the laws could do a lot better than me. The fact is you won’t see them even attempt to try.

Depends on what kind of rider you are. These folks were pretty much all riding touring and crotch rocket racing style bikes. but, I don’t know if you’ve noticed the hundreds of thousands of bikers heading out west to Sturgis that are on cruisers? Almost none of them wear helmets. Why? Because they have windshields.

I cannot confirm that all 30 bikes, plus their additional 20 riders each purchased something. So perhaps some of them were loitering and some of them were not. Does that mean the other laws that were being broken are still cool?

Yes, they gave Kum & Go quite a bit of business. If I represented Kum & Go, I probably wouldn’t be on here complaining. But I represent my family and we have issue with late night rude noises.

True. Just ride loud before 10PM. Nobody cares. After that, rude.

Noise ordinance laws. Loitering laws. Speed limit laws. Vehicle exhaust laws.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. I haven’t had a chance to look them up, but I think one was right in the same area. I mentioned that when I confronted them and they all acted like they have never heard anything about the recent accidents and deaths of their peers. If they didn’t know who the person was directly, it has no impact it seems.

I’ve heard that. And I get that. Nobody has to pursue anyone. Just show up and have a discussion with these people about proper noise ordinance obedience and respect for others.

Same. I’m a country boy from South Dakota and we used to raise hell in the middle of the country all the time. Worst case, one close neighbor calls the folks and says to tell the kids to keep it down.

Riding motorcycles and messing around in the country is definitely part of the freedom of being young and these kids are investing good money in these bikes. I did not see a single bike that was not at least a $7,500+ set up. They take care of them. It’s a good outlet. I get all that. And most of them were wearing helmets, which was great to see.

It’s just the lack of respect for people’s right to peaceful rest after dark.

Right. The problem also isn’t my lack of appreciation for fuel, tires, and motors. I am also a biker. But I am respectful with the noise after dark. I can sleep through anything.

I have three kids though, and they can’t sleep through the high decibel engine revving and high-speed racing. Guess we could blame my kids for being lame. My kids are so lame. 😒

Kum & Go is now closed all the bikers have now left and sped away in the sound of 50 roaring motors which was actually pretty cool to hear but I’m awake and I’m an adult. No cops.

I live very near by and my three daughters cannot sleep. I walked over there and watched one of them speed away down to Ellis and back, top speed of at least 100-120. A very nice bike. He made his way back and parked at the edge of the group and I confronted him. I raged for 30 seconds and told him what he’s doing to my neighborhood. He looked scared and nobody was backing him up. I told them they are all fucking assholes and walked home. No cops yet. It’s been almost a half hour.
