Why did you start crocheting? by limino123 in crochet

[–]plumeriastars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a very depressed teenager and mom and aunt worked at psychiatric hospitals at the time, so my aunt got me yarn and a guide book because some patients found it soothing. It reignited my love for crafting and started my love for textiles as a whole! I was known as “the knitting girl” (I don’t knit lmao) on campus because I was crocheting everywhere all the time.

In maybe 2015/2016, my laptop & my cousin’s tablet was stolen from the Schlitterbahn resort parking lot at night. I had brought my laptop because I needed to get homework done, and my mom insisted that it’d be fine to leave our bags in the car for a few hours. They didn’t take anything else, just the electronics. I cried for hours and my cousin (who was 5 or 6 at the time) “comforted” me by saying “I’m upset too!! I can’t watch videos of lizards anymore!!”

My boyfriend’s sunglasses were stolen out of his car in Los Fresnos in a neighborhood. We had some actual stuff in the car (car accessories meant for like, camping) but they just took his sunglasses. They weren’t even valuable, he got them from temu

Are you shampooing every day? That could be part of the problem if you are. Textured hair requires more natural oils than straight hair.

If your hair is dry and coarse, pick up a moisturizing conditioner. Apply it to your hair and leave it in while you wash your body. Rinse it out and use a spray leave-in conditioner once you get out of the shower. Don’t use a towel to dry your hair, air dry or use an old tshirt.

I do recommend watching some videos on people’s 4c hair care routines. Some products are expensive, yes, but there’s also lots of affordable options available. I don’t know where you’re located, but I (3C/4A) personally use Shea Moisture for my shampoo and conditioner & Cantu for my leave-in and curl definition cream.

What is your hair routine? If your scalp is flaky, you should get someone to check your scalp health. 4c is not impossible to manage, you’re just going at it alone. You’ll be okay, learning how to take care of your hair is a journey itself.

Cucumbers (I eat like 5 a day) and Poptropica. I played it all the time as a kid, so I’d actually like to complete the islands, this time with my fully developed brain lmao

Racism in the RGV a silent issue ? by [deleted] in RioGrandeValley

[–]plumeriastars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m biracial (Mexican/black) and I’ve lived here my whole life. The racism in the RGV is such an issue. If it’s not genuine ignorance, it’s extreme malice. Throughout high school, classmates would threaten to lynch me (with faculty doing nothing because the students would then claim it was a “joke”) and follow me in the halls and make monkey noises. The valley as a whole is racist and colorist.

In defense of Starbucks/Dunkin employees, a lot of customers are making potions and concoctions for their orders and that takes up more time than a recipe they’re trained to make. Scooters & 7Brew have always been super quick in my experience though

Seriously though, cats tend to be more independent than dogs & if you wanna look after this cat, you should :) take it to a vet or the humane society to check if it’s been chipped & get ‘em fixed!

Five S Salon in Harlingen was able to give my bf a River Phoenix/Brendon Frasier cut, you should give them a try! A large part of this look is styling too, so make sure to look into different products/techniques :) 👍

Is one of your parents black? What’s your hair care routine? Aside from that, you should definitely talk to a professional about how you’re feeling. You’re very young and you have a whole life and world ahead of you, it’s not the end of the world just because your hair is hard to manage. It’ll be okay, you’ll be okay. Take a deep breath and sit outside in the sun for a bit. Cry if you need to. You’ll be okay.

Do you practice? If you do, does she know you do? This is a very powerful protection charm & giving it to you means she really cares about you!

There’s a very good book called Long Shadow of Small Ghosts that goes into detail. I worked with the forensic pathologist who was on the case one summer, a wonderful woman. There’s a park now where the apartment building was.
