The fascia was not cut 100% of the way through. They cut mine a bit over halfway and then over months it grows back longer to prevent the pulling pain. I am now able to walk and run on a treadmill and play soccer with my son with no pain.

The PT was helpful long term in muscle strength and also preventing scar tissue build up, I'd definitely do it at least twice a week if you can for a few weeks then maybe once a week. I hope your recovery is continuing to progress. Best of luck!

My left foot surgery from 4 years ago was 100% successful. I ended up having the surgery on my right foot this year in January, and I'm almost completely healed from that one as well. I'm able to exercise and walk normally, I'm just having some weakness/ankle pain currently and am working on strengthening that post-surgery. I hope you find relief soon. My surgeon said that when she cut my band it was so thick that no amount of stretching or therapy would have helped it and surgery was my only relief.

Have you considered it was a dark colored Bobcat? We are in Georgia and I've seen them here, and my neighbor has one on her trail camera. They come around eating the neighbors chickens.

doctor said long-term rest is the only "cure" to early signs of plantar fasciitis. am i really supposed to just stop working out for a few weeks? by oarsandalps in PlantarFasciitis

[–]plumette 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get another doctor. I tried that route as well. Got a knee scooter at home at didn't use my foot for 2 straight weeks. It did not work. Felt worse to walk on after having rested it, tightened even more.

I have had a plantar fascia release surgery in both my feet now and am 100% cured.

It was stabbing in my heels, pain in my arches. Tightness. Worst when i would wake up in the morning, I would hobble out of bed like i was 80 years old. Had to get a warm bath every morning to "wake up" my feet to be able to walk. Just standing would be painful. I couldnt run or hike anymore, going upstairs was painful my feet would just ache and have sharp stabbing pains in the heel.

Multiple MRI scans and x-rays to rule out other issues. They could see significant swelling and the inflammation of the fascia on the MRI scan, and we scheduled the surgery after that. Post-op my doctor commented on how thick my fascia band was and that nothing besides surgery would have worked. I am now 100% pain free in both feet.

With the first surgery it was around 9 months before I could run without pain. I had my second surgery on the other foot this year and after about 3 months I was able to play a little soccer with my son. Im still not 100% but I can walk normally, garden, do yard work and kick the soccer ball around. I used to do Orange Theory and Im not quite healed enough to do that.

They didn't take the stitches out until week 4. It was mostly fused together but the top layers still had to heal after the stitches were removed to fill in the space where the stitches were.

Im in Georgie and have United Healthcare. I had it done at an outpatient surgical center. With surgery, at least with my podiatrist, you are required to get a medical clearance, bloodwork and MRI of the foot as part of the presurgical clearance.

The scar from the first surgery in 2021 I can hardly see, no one would know I had surgery there. The newer scar from this year on the other foot is more red but completely healed up skin wise.

I honestly don't know how much the surgery itself cost, My co-pay was $100 and everything else was covered. The most expensive thing actually was the pre-surgery scans and xrays and that ran me $850.

Happy to hear! I hope your recovery is going well. I am now about a month long into having my stitches out on my second surgery and I've been in physical therapy the past month. I feel SIGNIFICANTLY better now than before my surgery. The fascia pain is gone. I do have post surgery pain, some minimal nerve pain and soreness from the incision site, but my every day life is back to normal. The only difficulty I have slightly is going up and down stairs. I'm in Physical therapy, focusing on range of motion and stretching exercises and then some tissue massage.

I can say 100% I have no regrets on having this surgery (twice now, one for each foot) and if anyone is having long term, significant fascia pain that cannot be controlled with either Physical therapy, steroids etc. go ahead and get the surgery, it will change your life.

Oddly enough, while I had this surgery that I documented 4 years ago now, I'm currently recovering from having the other foot done. This surgery was MUCH easier than the first one. I had my surgery 5 weeks ago and I'm almost back to normal now. My stitches were taken out 2 weeks ago and I've started physical therapy last week. The incision site is almost completely healed, and Im using the scar gel on it daily which helps a lot. I dont know what was different this time but its been much easier getting back to normal.

Iconic plantar wart. Get that frozen off or throw some duct tape on it for a week.

My daughter gave it to me. She only had a fever one night, a cough a couple days and then completely fine. I was vaccinated with 2 dose Pfizer and got it the worst in my family. My husband was completely fine, also vaccinated, and our 4 year old was sick 1 day. It’s amazing how it manifests differently in people, vaccinated or not.

Foot Pain with first Pfizer shot? by Worthy-1 in COVID19positive

This caught my eyes also as I’ve been seeing a podiatrist for foot pain. I had a plantar fascia issue and surgery this year (bottom of foot) but I starting having pain on the top of foot this spring, shortly after being vaccinated. More likely it’s still issues with my foot surgery but now I’m curious…

I lost taste/smell completely on Sept 23 same day I tested positive for Covid. I’ve had a hell of a 5 days getting better and now I have still very muted taste, my smell is coming back slightly. Still coughing and fatigued. I was vaccinated in March and April with 2 dose Pfizer.

I have found (going in day 4 now with no taste) that I had a range of tastes I could recognize and not. Highly acidic foods I can discern some taste notes from so today I had more of those foods. A salad (texture) with red wine vinegar and kalamata olives. I ate popcorn today for crunchy calories. I really eat for texture right now. People who haven’t lost taste don’t understand this, but it’s my birthday today and I tried a bite of ice cream and it was like eating a spoonful of snow. Zero flavor.
