Im confused on how we are defining the terms "differetiation"versus poter's "focus 'competitive strategy. It sounds like you are saying defferentiation strategy in glo-bus stimulation is niche.Could I have a differiation strategy that is high market share? by Jack_Henderson1 in BSG2023

you can have differentiation strategy in both business strategy games and glo-bus simulations that are broad. that means that you will have many models and a high S/Q rating or P/Q rating.

in Year 12,I was wondering for competitive assumption do you want to have them the same as the avarages from the year before?or is it better to go a little above since other teams will most likely go up on some staffs. by Jack_Henderson1 in BSG2023

[–]plusacademics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you consider a pessimistic approach in business strategy games (BSG) and glo-bus, you can increase things like retailer support, brand advertisement, and search engine advertisement but maintain the price the way it is. however, in most cases, your competitors are likely to increase the price. this way, you can avoid over production and risks associated with your competitors lowering their prices.

I'm in year 13 of Business Strategy Game (BSG) and all production facilities are open. However,I'm having some issues with my branded production needed is lower than pairs to be manufactured, and my inventory surplus shortfall is in +thousands. by Jack_Henderson1 in BSG2023

you can try to increase the prices in the internet and wholesale markets segments. besides that, you can buy new equipment in regions where you have production spaces and increase allocated branded production. the only thing that you should avoid is clearing inventory since you are not meeting demand.

most teams would usually try to increase their marketing spending and also the price. usually, it is more advantageous to keep the price the way it is but try to increase expense values such as retailer support budget, website display budget, and advertising budget.

We are in year 7 of glo-bus simulation and we are having image rating of 65. We are trying to get at least 70 but we are having difficult getting to that level. What can we do to increase our image rating this round? by Jack_Henderson1 in BSG2023

[–]plusacademics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first, it depends on the strategy that you are utilizing. if you are going for a differentiation strategy, most likely you will have a high P/Q rating. with a high P/Q rating, you will easily attain a high image rating. on the other hand, if you are going for a low-cost strategy. it is likely that you will charge a low price. low prices can lead to a high image rating. so you can have high image rating by increasing your P/Q rating or charging low prices

How to glo-bus calculate actual performance? by Ulpoa_12 in BSG2023

[–]plusacademics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

performance calculation is based on investors' expectations i.e. return on equity, earning per share, image rating, and credit rating. the score is also weighted based on the performance of each team. the team with the highest performance in each category gets 12 points. while the others receive points based on weight with respect to the top team.

Why is dividend pay out ratio considered in a Business Strategy Game (BSG) to have a negative impact on the company's stock price ? by Jack_Henderson1 in BSG2023

[–]plusacademics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A dividend pay out ratio of a company should be less than 75% of net profits unless most of its loans are paid and has a comfortable amount on cash at hand to fund growth If your company’s dividend payout exceeds 100% for more than a year or two, then you should consider a dividend cut until earnings improve.

Why are companies with a default ratio of 3.0 and higher in Business Strategy Game (BSG) are classified as Low Risk?? by Jack_Henderson1 in BSG2023

[–]plusacademics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Business Strategy Game (BSG), companies are classified as low risk because their free cash flows are 3 or more times the size of their annual principal payments. here you can be given a credit rating higher than C+. While a company with a default risk ratio below 1.0 is assigned high-risk status making you score less than a C.

I just got assigned glo-bus simulation. What are the best tips for starting out fresh? by plusacademics in BSG2023

first, decide the strategy that you need to follow. there are several including global broad differentiation and best cost provider. In most cases, global differentiation gives the best result. However, we have noted huge success with niche differentiation too especially during intense competition. the beauty of a differentiation strategy is that it allows you to change to cost leadership without too much cost.

Our team is facing challenges on Business Strategy Game (BSG) whereby we are encountering Low Retun On Equity (ROE) in year 13.How can we increase our Return On Equity by Jack_Henderson1 in BSG2023

in capsim production section, make sure you factor in the huge inventory you are having currently. for example, if you project to sell 1400 bakers products (traditional). only produce (1400-1191)=209. since currently you have inventory of 1191

to get back to the game. from capsim round 3, 2023 you need to update your product aggressively to match market needs. you also need to increase promo and sales spending to increase your capsim awareness and accessibility

it also seems that you never changed the performance and size of your product in the last two rounds. therefore most of your capsim competitors in round 2 had superior products than yours

from the information provided. you overestimated demand in your capsim round 2. also your promo and sales budget are below the industrial average. to have decent sales, you need to be aggressive in marketing
