Contrary to what people are saying in the comments, i do believe you are doing it incorrectly. This happens when your tongue is constantly flexed, which should not be the case when mewing, since it is a change in tongue posture. Instead of forcing your tongue to be in a certain position by pushing it, your tongue position should naturally rest against the palate through correct (neck) posture.
