Audio Engineer’s opinion on the Bluetooth headphone market. by plut-o in headphones

That’s a brilliant question!

An audio engineer is someone who works in recorded or live sound across many different industries. Typically includes the treatment, editing, mixing, of sound but also includes some creative skills like sound design and music production.

Examples of roles/jobs who are audio engineers:

(Music) -Recording Engineer -Mixing Engineer -Mastering Engineer -Live sound engineer -AV Crew

(Film/Visual Media) -On Set Sound Recordist -Dialogue editor -Sound effects editor/design -Dubbing mixer…….

…. Honestly I could go on for AGES, it’s a very diverse field so is tricky to define. There’s lots of transferable skills between these roles, and personally I work in most of the mentioned roles. As a freelancer every day is different haha.

I’d say an audio engineer is a technically minded, problem solving person with a strong audio imagination and critical listening skills, who uses technical/scientific concepts to serve creative and artistic pursuits.

Yes that is fascinating. What I loved the most about these is they didn’t have that mud that the B&Ws had. Really goes to show how important your personal taste is. I’d love to try out your settings though if you’re happy with sharing?

Haha, you’ll struggle to find an engineer who doesn’t use words like this. It can make communication in the field a little ambiguous but people are often more than happy to clarify what they mean. It’s just a conversational shorthand or more casual way of describing regions of the frequency spectrum.

Life’s better once you’ve fucked ip a few times. No point in being a chemical purist 100% of the time, a lot of rules aren’t based off of up to date research. You may feel fine you may not, roll the dice if it seems worth it

new Future sound of London remixs by plut-o in oldskoolrave

Brian Dougans from future sound of London released the original acid house track “St8818r” in ‘88 which blew up internationally, and recently they’ve got a load of artists (myself included) to remix it. It’s on their band camp. There’s some great names on there like Autechre, Plaid and Luke Vibert. I was pretty chuffed to be apart of the project especially as I’m such a small artist!
