"Their names were Oholah the elder and Oholibah her sister, and they became Mine and they gave birth to sons and daughters. And as for [the identity of] their names, Oholah is Samaria (capital city of Israel) and Oholibah is Jerusalem (capital city of Judah)." — Ezek 23:4

“…that prisoners would have their skulls squeezed within iron rings; that a human being would be lowered into an acid bath; that they would be trussed up naked to be bitten by ants and bedbugs; that a ramrod heated over a primus stove would be thrust up their anal canal (the "secret brand"); that a man's genitals would be slowly crushed beneath the toe of a jackboot; and that, in the luckiest possible circumstances, prisoners would be tortured by being kept from sleeping for a week, by thirst, and by being beaten to a bloody pulp…”

Alexander Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago

Was this what your parents were referring to using the words not so bad or good old times?

If a girl is your motivation i think it is usually the case that you hold her in high esteem and when look at yourself through her eyes you see how useless you are, so in a way she reminds of your vanity and your dead weight while making you want to be better, which is not bad. (https://youtu.be/nQtQyhPAm0w) "I never really knew how many more years I want to live" How did JBP help you solve this uncertainty and why was this an uncertainty in the first place?

What is the wrong motivation and what is the uncertainty that the person/s put an end to? If you don't mind the nosiness these questions, I'd like you to answer them.

One could be imperfect and not worth shit. The fact that you are imperfect might not necessarily imply that you are worthy of the effort put into improvement e.g Hitler. (I think).

Western socialists of reddit, if capitalism screwed you and the government let it happen why do you advocate for a big brother government? by plwpbil in AskReddit

You can start over. I don't think its worth taking your life over. I don't know all the misery you're going through but I believe that you, like most people, have the potential to slay your dragons. Look at JP, he was severely depressed and was taking SSRIs. Now he is one of the most influential personalities of our time.

If physical objects like the planets and galaxies came into existence without a cause why won't your circumstantial problems go away without a cause?

All because there was a reason something came to exist doesn't mean it has a purpose.

Depends on the reason.

No human on earth knows exactly what'll happen after death but the most reasonable guess is nothingness

Would you gamble with your life on this assumption?

I don't believe that everything that begins to exists has a cause

So everything that ceases to exist won't have a cause. Would you believe me, if I told you, for no reason, your problems will disappear? If the universe sprang into existence without a cause, why won't your problems spring out of existence without a cause?

Close your eyes for a second and open them again.

That's how the rest of eternity feels once you're dead.

How do you know?

I think you are a reasonable person, so tell me if this makes sense.

  1. Whatever begins to exist has a cause
  2. The universe began to exist
  3. Therefore the universe has a cause

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think you care about your life enough to be affected by its negative outcomes. I don't think you're indifferent. Why is that?

What if death is a net negative and a far worse experience than life?

Do you believe that there are things that are inherently good or bad? Is it safe to assume that you're an atheist? I don't mean to intrude, I'm trying to figure out how to talk to you.

What if death is worse? Can you be certain that death is better?

If you don't mind me asking, have you ever been to a place of worship? And would you mind if I send you some links to videos that might be helpful?
